Their Eyes were Watching God Chapters 13, 14, 15
I’ve just finished reading chapter 13 in Their Eyes Were Watching God, and the character Tea Cake comes back making Janie surprised. She said her heart was smothering her and she was feeling blue and sad realizing it was Tea Cake outside her door for some reason. I think she’s just sad because she is losing a little faith in Tea Cake. Her money was gone and it can probably be Tea Cake, but she doesn’t want to believe that.
In chapter 14, one part of it was talking about how Janie thought about the old life. The life where she lived in the big white house and the time when she was high class. She thought about how people would treat her if she looked like this. (Overalls with shoes) She thinks people would tease her and never stop. Just make a big joke out of her everyday. Back then, she was very classy and her hair was up too. Now her hair is down and people think of her differently.
I just read chapter 15 and Tea Cake seems to be cheating on Janie. Janie gradually discovers but he still does not admit it. He just makes her forget what he does by changing the subject all the time. She should know better, because in my opinion, I don’t think this relationship is going anywhere. She should just cut it loose and go find a better guy for her to marry.
