Three Memorable Summer Vacations
I hope you enjoy these three stories that come from memorable events in my life. It was kind of difficult to write from the perspective of others, but as I went along, I was good with it. I wrote a diary entry, blog entries and a short story. The diary entry is from my sister’s perspective, the blogs are from my friend’s perspective and the short story is my own. I choose these three stories because they are memories that had to do with important people in my life. All my stories are in the summer because that is my favorite season and that is when really I get to have fun. My stories are about special people in my life and the memories I have with them.
Diary Entry-
Dear Diary,
Today is an exciting day. Deysi, Julia, Dad, Freddy, my niece Diana and I are in Maryland. This is our summer vacation for the week as a family. I really enjoy family vacations. This one is really nice because we didn’t have to stay at a hotel, we are staying at the house of some family relatives that Freddy has. We ate so much pizza because our relatives in here own a pizza store. We went to many malls and stores. The malls here are really big and far away from home. You have to drive many miles just to find a store. Deysi got a nice dress that fit her just right. Her quince is coming up so she bought the dress that she will wear after midnight. It was pink with a lot of glitter. I bought some shirts to wear at home. Julia bought clothes for Diana. My little niece is so cute, she said, “Mommy this looks pretty can I get it? I want to wear it to the party.” My sister said, “ Look at her so little and she wants to pick out her own outfit. She loves to party. I think I’m going to have some problems when she grows up.” Every one laughed. Freddy didn’t buy anything because like any other guy, he does not have patience to go shopping. My dad just walked around with us and did not buy anything at all. We also went to a party which was really fun. In the party Deysi said she was so tired and she did not dance. I was all over the dance floor. I really enjoy dancing. Julia, Freddy and Dad were dancing as well. Deysi was just sitting there, rejecting every one who tried to take her out to dance. I think she was getting mad because she wanted to leave but Dad said she had to wait. We left really late and it was such a fun party. We recently got home and are really to go to sleep after such a long day. In here, the night is actually beautiful because you can actually see the stars and everything is so calming. I think Maryland is a really good place to relax and rest.
Love,
Gloria
Blogs-
Monday:
It is the start of the week. I am so excited. I am going to spend my whole entire week with Rose. Today we went to the Body Exhibition museum. It was very interesting. Rose was the one with the idea to go to the museum. I wasn’t so excited about it but I actually ended up liking it. It was interesting seeing how we look inside. Rose looked like she really enjoyed it. She kept on really all the signs and took a long look at each statue. She told me that it was such a cool thing to look at. She was disgusted by the lungs of a smoker. As soon as she saw it, she walked away and gave me a look of disgust. I was laughing at her because she made a funny face. After the museum we ate pizza and then headed home. It was such a long ride by train. Rose was so tired she fell asleep on the train. I didn’t even bother to wake her up which was a bad decision because afterwards she complain of why didn’t I wake her up. I think she felt a little shy about me watching her sleep. After all, it was a great day with Rose.
Tuesday:
Today I’m going to Splish Splash with Rose. I have never been there but Rose said it will be fun. It was a very long way to get there. It took us like two hours long. Since I was the one driving, my feet kind of got tired. It was very hot today which is why Rose really wanted to go to Splish Splash today. When we got there, Rose did not want to take off her dress because apparently she was shy to let me see her with a bathing suit. I convinced her that there is nothing to be shy about and she finally took off her dress. We went on some rides that were very short. The lines were not so long which was good. Rose said that usually there is long lines that take two hours just to get on the rides. Rose screamed on one of the rides. I was laughing at her and she gave me this mean face. I think her face expressions are funny but in the cute way. We had so much fun and we both agreed that the Lazy River was our favorite ride since we both are lazy. When we headed home, we talked a lot. Rose was the one talking the most. I think she was just so happy that she had so much to share with me. Splish Splash was very fun.
Wednesday:
Today we are going bowling. We are taking two of Rose’s friends; Nicky and Jackie. They are very nice and cool. It was Rose and I against Nicky and Jackie. It was the first time I met Nicky, I met Jackie before long time ago. Rose and I won the game. Rose kept on filming us and there was a very funny video. Jackie was so funny she did not hit any of the bowling pins, not even one. I was the one scoring the most. Rose was good too. We played two games and afterwards went to a restaurant to eat. We ate some Ecuadorian food which was really good. Rose and I sat together across from Nicky and Jackie. We had a long conversation and afterwards we decided to leave and I dropped all of them home. Rose was the last. I am really enjoying her company.
Thursday:
Today is very hot. Rose and I decided to go to the pool. This time the pool was not so far. It was like 30 minutes away. We had some breakfast first and then we headed to the pool. This time Rose was not shy and had no problem showing her bathing suit. We sat in the bench for a little while for our food to digest. We talked about how fun this whole week has been. Tomorrow is the last day we have to hang out. After a while, we went inside the pool. The water was nice and warm but not too hot or too cold. We played with water, and it was fun. I was teaching Rose how to swim. I had to hold her every time because she was scared she would drown. She told me her story about how she almost drowned once in the pool when she was 7 years old. The pool was so fun but it was time to head home.
Friday:
Unfortunately today is the last day of the week, which means my week with Rose is over. Today we planned to just relax and enjoy our last day together for this summer vacation. So we went to blockbuster and rented a movie. We went to my house and Rose made some popcorn. We watched Wanted. It was a good movie and Rose really liked it. She said the beginning was cool. After we watched the movie, we played some dominoes. She won two games which she was really proud of. She seem to be so happy. Later we order some Peruvian food. We ate and talked so much. We basically did like a whole reflection on our week together. Rose’s favorite day was the one we went to Splish Splash. I told her that today was the best day for me because it was just a relaxing day. After we finished our lunch we watched some TV shows and went out to the park. We played some basketball. Rose was not good at it but she tried because of me. Basketball is not one of her favorite sports but I convinced her to play with me and she did. After that I took her to dinner. We went to an Ecuadorian restaurant. We ate there and just talked and talked till it was time to take her home. We both had so much fun together. It was the best week ever for me and I’m sure she feels the same way.
Short story-
I remember that summer vacation to Ecuador like it was yesterday. I remember that I was so excited because I haven’t gone in such a long time and plus it was my first time going alone. I was to meet my father and my older sister over there. The main reason for this vacation was because of my father’s wedding. I was so ready for this wedding and to see my family. I was extremely thrilled to see my number one aunt. My aunt Esperanza was really nice and she cooked for my sister and I some really good food. Everything was going so good, I went to many places and had fun. Later, my sister decided to cook rice. She cooked it with the rice cooker, and that was a bad idea. After eating the rice she cooked, I felt sick. This ruined everything I was sick for about a week. Fortunately, my wonderful aunt gave me some medicine that made me feel better and I was able to attend my father’s wedding. Although, before the wedding I went to a concert. It was such an amazing concert and I had lots of fun. It was most definitely the best vacations in Ecuador that I could of ever imagine.

Dear Deysi : I liked your
Dear Deysi :
One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: "I choose these three stories because they are memories that had to do with important people in my life. All my stories are in the summer because that is my favorite season and that is when really I get to have fun." I think this is logical because you based your stories on environments that you are comfortable with. For example, you wrote about your favorite season of the year and it’s great; the reader’s really get to know you better. I agree with you on the fact that memories are important, they give you a initiative of family and the fondness it brings.
Another sentence that I liked was: " remember that summer vacation to Ecuador like it was yesterday. I remember that I was so excited because I haven’t gone in such a long time and plus it was my first time going alone.." This stood out for me because I can really feel myself on the trip. Vacationing on Ecuador is a great experience. Although it is a small country, Ecuador has every season and even islands, where people can visit. The beauty Ecuador has to offer is amazing, maybe on my next trip I can go to the Amazon and explore the depths of the jungle life.
Your post reminds me of something that happened to me. My trip to Ecuador was very emotional. When I got there, I felt at home and great that I would see my family. I visited my grandparents, but grandma on my mother’s side was sick. I tried to have fun, but I spent my time at the hospital because my grandma had surgery during the days we were there. I really prayed for her and hoped that she would get better, which she did. Although, she still had to stay at the hospital. I enjoyed the parties my family and I went to, the quality time with all my grandparents, and just hanging out with my cousins at the beach. Going to Ecuador was so much fun and a stress reliever. When I came back, everything just got worse. Unfortunately, my grandma passed away after a few days from coming to Ecuador. To this day, I miss her presence, but I keep the memories in my heart.
Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because I enjoyed the stories. I myself, felt as though I was experiencing your stories, while reading it. I hope to see more of your stories because I can also relate to them. Great post.
Dear Christian, I liked
Dear Christian,
I liked your comment on my post because I can see that you can relate to my stories. My stories all tell something about me and I’m glad you learned something new from me. You comment really made me think once again of my exciting vacations.
One sentence that stood out for me was, “This stood out for me because I can really feel myself on the trip. Vacationing on Ecuador is a great experience. Although it is a small country, Ecuador has every season and even islands, where people can visit.” I am glad to hear that you can get the sense of what I am trying to say in my story about Ecuador. Like you I also think that Ecuador has good places to visit and that it can be a great experience going there. It is nice to know that you can see where I come from and know that it is a great place.
Something that caught my attention was when you said,”Your post reminds me of something that happened to me. My trip to Ecuador was very emotional. When I got there, I felt at home and great that I would see my family. I visited my grandparents, but grandma on my mother’s side was sick.” Sometimes families can make trips very emotional, especially when you haven’t seen your family in a long time. It is sad that your Grandmother was sick but at least you were by her side and got to see her. Being with the family is the best thing ever so even if your Grandmother was sick, you got to share with her some memories.
Thank you for your comment. It was nice to know what you though about my stories and that you can relate to them. I think that you really understood the point to each story and got to know me a little better through these stories. Hope to hear more from you.
Dear DToalongo, I really
Dear DToalongo,
I really enjoyed your post, "Three Memorable Summer Vacations" because you make me remember about my summer vacation. During summer vacation that is the time when you get to hang out with your friends and family with nothing to worry about. There is no school and you can just enjoy yourself with all the fun that you want. With all the fun that you had with your family like your cousin and others, it seemed like you were having so much fun in Maryland, Splish Splash and ate different type of foods as well.
One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: "We had so much fun and we both agreed that the Lazy River was our favorite ride since we both are lazy. When we headed home, we talked a lot. Rose was the one talking the most. I think she was just so happy that she had so much to share with me. Splish Splash was very fun." I think this is exciting because you guys were on the lazy river and it reminds me of a time when I went to Splish Splash as well with all my friends. We went on the lazy river as well and it was just so relaxing. You just lie there and do nothing, just being lazy and talking to each other. Even though you are just relaxing there, you are enjoying your time with your friends.
Another sentence that I liked was: "I remember that summer vacation to Ecuador like it was yesterday. I remember that I was so excited because I haven’t gone in such a long time and plus it was my first time going alone." This stood out for me because I always wanted to travel the world and maybe one day I can do to Ecuador and see how it is like. I heard it is really nice there. I havent been to Malaysia in a while as well and I want to go back there. It is really fun there, but the only thing is that it is way too hot. Everyday it is hot because the only season they have is summer. Weren't you afraid to go by yourself? It takes a lot of responsibilities.
Your post reminds me of something that happened to me. One time during the summer I was really bored and I had nothing to do. I didn't feel like staying home either. All my friends were busy and I just felt like I was lonely, so I had to figure out what to do. I went to help my parents do some stuff and it actually was pretty fun. It occupied up my time.
Thanks for writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next because your stories are really interesting and I can really relate to it as well.
I really like your post
I really like your post Deysi,
"This one is really nice because we didn’t have to stay at a hotel, we are staying at the house of some family relatives that Freddy has" This quote was really interesting. I know what you mean though. When I travel, we stay in hotels but when I go to my condo in Florida, we live there and it is amazing. Though it is more work, the idea of living in a place where no one else was before you is a very convincing and calming factor.
Another quote that stood out to me was "The main reason for this vacation was because of my father’s wedding. I was so ready for this wedding and to see my family. I was extremely thrilled to see my number one aunt." from your short story. It must have been amazing seeing your family again. My family lives all over America so it is very hard to see them a lot. I know Ecuador is further but you know what I mean...When I see them again it is amazing.
I really enjoyed reading your post and I cant wait to see what else you have to offer.
Deysi, I really
Deysi,
I really enjoyed reading over your post. Most especially the week long diary format that you made there. I even like the topic you've chosen where in every single one of us had always been looking forward to every year... SUMMER VACATION! Usually, we get more time to pamper ourselves and relax at the same time. We get more quality time to be with our friends and family which is really great. Your post reminds me exactly of my most memorable summer that I had so far. I can't help not to smile while reading your post. It makes me missed most of my friends and relatives way back home.
