Universal Health Care for America
The idea of universal health care is that every citizen of a country that they were a citizen of would be supplied with health care no matter what their financial situation. The money that pays for this health care comes from the tax payers and does add a significant amount of money to each citizens taxes. But those same tax payers end up paying for the medical bills of all citizens anyway because an emergency room can't turn away someone who is in need of medical care by law. If health care were available to everyone people would go to the hospital before they got to sick, which would most likely make the disease they are suffering from easier to treat. If sick people go to hospitals earlier then they could possibly avoid their illness progressing to dangerous stages, stages that would have to be rectified through surgery or other expensive procedures. Universal health care shows statistics of increasing the average life expectancy by three years for Canadian citizens. If it is possible to increases the lives expectancy of people through universal health care, than that is what America needs to do.
The con of universal health care is the idea that people could possibly run to the doctor for every single little thing no matter how insignificant it may seem. Health Care is a very large part of how the economy functions as health care does attract a lot of money as majority of people throughout their life will need some sort of medical procedure. Since almost everyone needs medical procedures at some point, many people fear the price raise in taxes that could occur if Americans decided to use universal health care.
Before any decision can be made the United States government must look at how it would affect the economy and all the citizens in the United States. Their are many good things about universal heath care and their are many cons. Universal Health care has proven to be very successful in other countries such as Canada. But the economy in America is different from every other country in the world, so many government officials and economists are worried about the potential fallout the economy could experience if America switched to Universal Health Care.
