When reading Marianne Riley’s story, “The Spirit of Japan”, i thought it was very optimistic. In her story she told about how she believes Japan is coming back on track and how much better everything  in Japan is. Marianne tells about how she is able to go to a supermarket and everyone there is calm and although they are all in worry and agony, they try to keep a hopeful spirit.

At a time of need Marianna explains that the country would come together in order to help save Japan. They don’t care about the business or the amount of things sold, but how the country improves or how it faces its own recovery. Even though a lot of things have been happening to Japan, through Marianne’s story, i can tell that Japan itself is trying to come back together to be the same level of greatness it was at before.

When I read this story by her, i was touched to see that people there were making as much as an effort as us. Although that sounds sort of snobby or stuck up, i feel like because they have gone through so much, we should not have to expect too much from them. They are in deep damages and in a swirl of emotions. When i discovered that despite all those things, they were trying just as hard as we were to help them get back on track, i truly admired Japan for their determination.
