I created the Scratch animation Wuhu Island: Vote for Mayor! as my response to a project to create an interactive ethical story. An ethical story is a story a story that teaches a person, most likely a child a lesson about life. These lessons usually tell the child right from wrong even if doing something right doesn’t benefit you as much as doing something wrong.

My story is about There is a new island called Wuhu Island that is being inhabited by Mii’s. These Mii’s need someone to run their island and keep the island open for people to vacation and have permanent homes there. There are 3 candidates that are running for mayor: Cam, Maria, LeviThese three all have very different views oh how they are going to run and control the island. You, the player, are to make your first decision before the story even starts. You are going to read one sentence about each candidate and choose whose friend you are going to be. After you are going to see a series of debates and hear the true feelings and ideas about all the candidates. Your friends go to vote for your candidate but you don’t because you are stuck between voting for your friend or voting for the person’s whose ideas you agree with. There is a tie and you become the swing voter. Who ever you vote for affects the whole island of Wuhu.

My story was inspired by previous times where I had to vote for one of my classmates in school. I decided to use Mii characters and Wii games because I thought it was cool and I like Wii games.

I think I was successful in creating my story because my story was over three minutes long. During these three minutes the reader was able to make decisions and answer questions that affected the people in the story and affected the outcome. There were two ethical decisions that had to be made. The first one was taking a lot of money and voting for a man that you didn't agree for voting for or being poor and voting for someone else. If you accepted you would go to the voting booths and truly vote to be rich or vote to be fair. If you declined then you would have to vote between two very different people that would both negatively and positively affect you.

After these decisions you could have ended up in three different situations. The first one was being happy but poor because the person you voted for increased taxes to keep Wuhu Island clean and a nice place to live and vacation. The second one was you had decent money but Wuhu Island was a dump but you had friends and family to keep your spirits up. Third situation was that you got kicked off of Wuhu island. I gave credit to all the people that helped me and that I got my images from. My story is appropriate for children up the 13.
