What is Childhood Depression?
What is Childhood depression? When is it diagnosed? What are the treatments? And what contributes to the disorder? These are some of the questions I would like to answer when researching for my i-search paper. Reflecting on the oil spill, I thought of the men and women that loss jobs and even their lives. And then I thought about their kids and younger siblings. How does a young child deal with the sudden loss of someone that plays such a significant role? How does a child that was fortunate to have all their wants, deal with barely getting what they need? In addition to the all spill, natural disasters, happen all over the world and affects the youth as well. From Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans to Earthquakes in Chile and Japan, natural disasters have scarred our earth, our homes, and our lives. How does a kid copewith being stripped from the only home he or she has known. And to make matters worse some have to leave without a familiar face at their side. Could these things contribute to Childhood Depression and if so, what are we doing to insure these kids will have a normal and happy childhood?
