What I Learned in High School

There were times in bio I wanted to applaud to the teacher. It was like he was perfectly delivering lines of the best play ever written, not teaching. It was just that interesting and exciting for my nerd brain. I learned how unspecial humans are. We are not our own tier of the evolutionary cake. We are mammals capable of speech. That is all. That being said, I also learned how incredible all life (humans included) is. The fact that anything can survive ice ages and droughts and epidemics and genetic incompatibilities, and in general survive nature’s diabolical plan to destroy life is absolutely against all odds. Maybe nature isn’t trying to destroy everything,it’s just trying to make it tough. Mother nature is a ‘tiger-mom’. So humans are nothing special or incredible in the category of life, but the category of life with it’s brilliance, resilience and defiance is very special and incredible. And that’s the greatest thing I learned.
