What is up with Slurpees?

Slurpees are one of my favorite indulgences. They are delicious and nice for a hot summer day. I have always wondered exactly how they are made and the story behind the creation. I know that they are pretty much just a cup of ice mixed with flavoring, but I would like to know the process and look forward to learning more about the history of the company and the product.
