What's the meaning of the symbolism on the dollar bill?
Something that I have been interested in learning more about has been the symbolism behind a dollar bill.I remember my friends and I were talking about it at my house, but then we brush off the subject because we just assumed the conclusion that the government is hiding things from us. Lately, the issue has caught my eye again.
I know that many people feel that the all seeing eye is an illuminati conspiracy. From what I have heard, the illuminati is a organization of people who worship the devil. For example,I heard that the all seeing eye is basically representing that someone is always watching you. “They also say the government is behind it and actually show the dollar bill with the eye in the diamond-shaped temple.” Now that's just what I've heard, it may or may not be true.
One thing that I know for sure about symbolism of the dollar bill is that the National Treasury are the ones who chose the symbols. Personally, It's funny to me how there is a unfinished pyramid on the back of the dollar bill. One symbol that everyone should know why it stands it the bald eagle. The Bald Eagle is the national bird of the United States. The eagle represents freedom and strength. The symbolism of the dollar bill incorporates meaning in Latin as well.”The first phrase is located just above the eye and reads, Annuit Coeptis. Derived from the Latin annuo, meaning “to nod” or “to approve” and coeptum, “undertakings,” the phrase literally translates as “He approves of the undertakings.” Another phrase was,"the motto, "E Pluribus Unum," written on the banner held in the eagle's beak, is Latin meaning "Out of many, one," conveying the union of the States. And the phrase Novus ordo seclorum, located just below the pyramid, literally translates as “New world order.” Everyone always questions the “mystery” eye. But as cited from the first article the eye “...is known as the"Eye of Providence" and is surrounded by rays of light. According to Webster's New World College Dictionary, "providence" can mean:
- a looking to, or preparation for, the future; provision.
- skill or wisdom in management; prudence.
- a)the care or benevolent guidance of God or nature, b) an instance of this.
- God, as the guiding power of the universe.
Being that I didn't have a lot of background information on the symbolism of a dollar bill, I chose to do some research on the topic. As I searched for blogs and news articles on Google, I came across this one article: “What do the symbols on the U.S. $1 bill mean?”This article provided a lot of information and opinions on the symbolism of a dollar bill. Some people felt that symbols came from Egypt. “The single eye shows up in Egyptian mythology as the Eye of Horus, an ancient god of the Egyptians. The Egyptian pyramid is a symbol of strength and duration.” These statements didn't really surprise me all that much because there are pyramids in Egypt, but I still didn’t understand why was the pyramid unfinished. Then I read more and understood that: “. . .the 13 steps indicate the original number of U.S. states; and the 13 steps leading to an unfinished summit indicates future growth of the nation.”
In another article there was this one statement that made me nod my head in agreement with the writer. It was:”...some hidden in plain sight. What do they mean and, once deciphered, can they unlock a series of veiled messages from our forefathers?”This is so true. I believe our Founding Fathers left message all over in history so we can decipher. This reminds me of the movie “National Treasure,” were Nicholas Cage put the clues in history left together to figure out where the hidden treasure are hidden.
All of this makes me think that our Founding Fathers: John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and George Washington had made a lot of memorable contributions to America. Also when I think of the Founding Father it makes me still think that there are many hidden secrets in history waiting to be solved. I wonder what really went down the day the Declaration of Independence was signed.
