Why is the scientific method important?

The scientific method has been around for a very long time and it has helped us in life by proving our answers to questions we have about the world. The scientific method is a procedure that can be produce by anyone. It can help you answer a question that you have for example in the video I watched the girl wanted to know “Which of these three materials will keep drinks hot longer?”, the materials she used was a paper cup, ceramic cup, and a styrofoam cup. In order for her to find the answer from her question she used the scientific method that has a procedure of five sets.

The five sets of the scientific method are:
1. Ask a question.
2. Form a hypothesis. A hypothesis is an educated guess on what you think your results will be to your question.
3. Design and conduct an experiment. Here is where you gather your materials and do an experiment that has to do with your question and test. You may test it a few times to see if there is any changes.
4. Analyze the results of your experiment. When you have finish your experiment you see the results and you write down the data. See if there's any changes or not.
5. Draw a conclusion. Here is when you compare your hypothesis to your results and write your final thought on the experiment.

As she used the scientific method she created a hypothesis, her guess was that drink would last hot longer in paper cups. After she conducted her experiment the hypothesis was wrong, it turns out that drinks are kept hotter in styrofoam cups. I was shocked myself I thought it would have last longer in a ceramic cup it turns out that its least hotter in the ceramic cup and it lasts longer in a styrofoam cup.

The scientific method is important because it provides a procedure to test anyone’s experimental result. For example who ever said that white light is a blend of many color is true you can prove it with a tool such as the glass prism when you glare it in light it shows a rainbow. If we didn’t have the scientific method we would be stuck on one answer that someone made up, but with our scientific method we can do and see the results ourselves.
