Yeah I'm Writing About the Hunger Games

I said that I would never see The Hunger Games movie, but that only lasted like three days.

On Monday night I went to it with a few cousins. I actually did think it was pretty good. The movie was two and a half hours long so I felt like it dragged on a little too much.

The first hour of it was a bit slow, but it never got too bad. I think the main girl did a good job. At times I thought she was kind of unlikeable but she grew on me throughout the movie.

I don't understand why she didn't just post up in the trees and snipe people once she got her bow. And she wasn't even that good at archery! She missed two out of the five or something shots that she took. The whole fancy society that they play the game for was awesome.

I haven't read the book so I don't know the name of their city. I thought all the crazy clothes and hairstyles were pretty sweet.

I think the whole movie was cast very well. Almost everyone seemed perfect for whatever part they were playing. Katniss' like boyfriend at the beginning did look suspiciously old though.

The only other problem I had with the movie was the lack of violence. From what I have heard, the book sounds pretty gruesome. Every time there was a kill scene in the movie, the camera would jump away, or it would flash to people after they were wounded.

I've been told the book is supposed to be describing the horrors of war, and I don't think the movie did that good of a job. If they had featured more violent shows I think that point would have been driven home a lot harder.

I guess it was probably so they wouldn't get an R rating and eliminate like 50 percent of their viewers. You got to do what you got to do.

Dear John,

I read you post about the Hunger Games movie because I saw this movie last week Saturday with my boyfriend. I liked it. Katniss played her part well. I knew she was going to win.

One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is "I don't understand why she didn't just post up in the trees and snipe people once she got her bow," because she did have a partner who she was "in love with" so maybe she wanted to be with him. The way she pulled that off sleeping on a tree branch was brilliant! I wouldn't have came up with that. And I definitely wouldn't know how to climb a tree.

I was falling asleep at the beginning of the movie and I kept asking my boyfriend what happened and he was getting upset, lol, but then it got interesting and I was up during the whole thing. I really thought I wasn't going to like it.

I think that Katniss was so nice to her sister and what she did for her was very nice of her. It was crazy how her sister was scared her name was going to come up and it was.

Thank you for your writing. I look forward to reading what you write next.
