Pault Offit is at the center of a whirlwind of hatred, protests and death threats. Why? Because he has taken it upon himself to educate the United States' populace about the facts, interpretations and just the general science behind a vaccination. Offit and his vaccine throwdown have become quite the popular target for media giants and grassroots protests, people as scientifically educated as Jim Carrey and his girlfriend Jenny McCarthy have been known to protest Offit's defense of vaccines which allegedly caused their child's autism. The thing is people just love a scapegoat, in his book Autism’s False Prophets Offit analytically and methodically defends the use of vaccines as a means for disease prevention and cites studies which show no correlation between autism the use of vaccines. This makes him the emperor of evil to groups which would rather not take responsibility for having birthed a child with autism, and would rather take the money from their lawsuits, placing the blame on someone, anyone. This is just another example of scared and confused people lashing out without knowing all of the facts. Would they rather have an autistic child or an autistic child who died at the age of 5 from spinal meningitis, without vaccination this is the very real possibility faced by those refusing vaccination for their children.

i understand where he is coming from and i also come from a perspective that whatever we want to believe we will find evidence to support our own opinions and judge others by them. This being said, if as a parent we are looking for a cause of autism then his facts are pretty straight forward, my question is with the broad spectrum of side affects that doctors all agree have a chance of happening regardless of percentages then why is the study focused just on autism and not other problems claimed as a result of immunisations? If the argument is only how autism is caused then fair comment to him, but there are more claims regarding immunisations (and many diverse reactions) that cause parents to question the true benefits or side effects of immunisations. Also there are children that have allergic reactions to the fluids that the bactiria are suspended in and are told by doctors not to have them for the childs safety do they deserve the same condemnation as others that have a choice, take in mind the allerigies can paralyse or kill them?
