AmeeraM at JM, SLC :: Blog :: african boy captive found

May 17, 2007

A man has been charged with indecent assault following the rescue of a South African boy who had allegedly been held captive in a dark room for 13 years.

"The boy, known as Bongani, is said to be traumatised and recoils from bright lights. he was kidnepped when he was five!"  That is the age of my lil sister!:(

This story was so upseting. I don't understand how a child could stay alive or sane in captivity. let me just be honest staying at my mom's freinds homes for more than an hour drives me crazy. I start spurting out rachel ray recipes. But anyway thats not a very sensitive comment. i mean that boy will probably be affected by this his entire exisistence. The guy who took him better get life man. I mean this kid recoils from bright lights! Ahhh! creepy.

Keywords: crime, kidnapping

  1. Hey Ameera

This post is horrible. I never got it through my head how someone could kidnap another child. And just imagine the reaction of the boy. He will be traumatized for ever and gaining someones trust is going to be really difficult.

I wonder what i would do if was in this situation. How could i ever escape. Just thinking about this i get chills down my spin.

  2. That is honastly one of the most disgusting and messed up things I've ever heard of. What kind of person keeps a kid in a dark room alone for 13 yrs...is that even humanly possible. I agree with you and i believe the one responsible should get a life sentence. I do have a question though, was the person responsible ever caught and how was this story discovered

  3. That is so sad! I can't imagine being trapped in a dark room for almost all my life. What I don't understand is why a man would want to do that. It's not like he's going to get a lot of money for ransom anyway. I really don't understand why the man wants the boy, he has to feed him, and take care of him. What a jerk. ANd it;s so freaky that he doesn't like bright lights. This boy is scarred for life and I agree with you that this man should be killed or be punished very severely.

  4. I cant belive that this person would actually do this to a young kid. this person deserves to be put in jail for life or put do death because this kid is now gonna be scarred for life. It reminds me of the movie blood diamond in which the kids were being put in a line and at the end they got their hands chopped off. i felt so bad, i wished that i could do something for them. its strange that i havent seen this in the news yet, i wonder why.

  8. This is a very sad story. What kind of sick person would do such a thing, these kinds of people should not get a second chance, i mean this boy was traumatized and may have a troublng life. I think that the person who did this shoiuld be kept in a dark room for 13 years just so he knows what it feels like to be his victim.
