How am I doing? :: Blog :: Blogs

October 26, 2007

Blogging and journaling are two totally different things. In a writing journal, things are generally in one category. How did something make me feel? Or what did i think of what i read? Blogging gives so much more opportunity to write about a variety of things. There are so many topics on the internet that you can write about. With blogging, you are able to get your opinion out there. In a journal, these thoughts are more for yourself (with the possibility of a teacher reading it for a grade).
As different as blogging and journaling are, MySpace and Youth Voices have an even bigger gap between them. While both can be considered "blogging", they are on opposite ends of the world. To start, MySpace is a personal thing. It is a way to keep in touch with your friends. It is "hey how was your weekend...." vs. a blog about a recent news story or an educational topic. You will rarely to never find a comment on a friend's page about the local news for the day. MySpace is a conversational tool. Youth Voices is a way to put your one-sided opinion. Youth Voices is a tool to give your feelings on a particular topic that you choose.
There are so many things to learn about blogging. I am sure there is so much more on Youth Voices that I dont know about. I know how to do a web snippet and post a blog and thats pretty much it. I am hoping to get more variety with my blogs. They have all been about safety issues; while that is something I care about, I want to expand my blogs. I always write about news stories. Maybe next time, I could pick something with a more general feel.
