- After you have done some writing, find a comic by searching with your keywords on Comics.com or on another comics site that gives you permission to use their comics.
- Be picky! Look again with another keyword. Look until you find a comic that really relates to your writing, and will push you to write more.
- When you find the comic that you want to use, copy the embed code for it. (If there is not embed code available, that means that they have not licensed this particular comic to be used again on your post.)
- Click on the icon that says EMBED.
- Highlight the code that appears in a box under EMBED THIS STRIP.
- Click the "copy to clipboard" button.
- Edit your document (either in Google Docs or in Youth Voices), and type the word COMIC where you want the comic to appear.
- Click the Source box (in Youth Voices) or Edit / Edit HTML (in Google Docs), and look for the word COMIC that you typed. Highlight the word COMIC, then replace it by pasting (CTRL-V or Edit on the top and Paste) the embed code that you copied in Step 3.
- Click the Source box (in Youth Voices) or Update (in Google Docs) and your comic should appear. Save the document.
- Edit your document again and write more above and below the comic. Make a "comic sandwich"
- On top of the comic, above it, write a transition from your earlier writing to the comic. Introduce the comic to your reader.
- Then, under the comic, write more about your topic or question or inquiry. Freewrite! Go off! What does this comic make you think about your question now?
- Don't forget to check your grammar and spelling, then Submit your changes or Save!
