Photo Essay

My photo essay is going to be a series of photos that are connected to making food. The first photo is going to be a picture of the utensisls, a pan, oil, and eggs. The second photo is going to be oiling the pan and the cracked eggs, and so on. I like the idea of photo essays because through pictures, and without words, one can tell a story that may define part of his or her life. The reason why I chose food is because I enjoy making food and eating it as well. Another reason is because there are many steps to making food so to those who have never made food can feel like they are experiencing it without actually doing it.

Photo essays are fairly easy to create. Anything that you can write a story about you can make a photo essay about. Besides, remember that saying, "a picture says a thousand words" ?

I'm planning on doing my own photo essay on the St. Patrick's Day Parade here in SLC, UT. I'll probably take some pictures of the pre-parade set up, and then pictures from the side of the parade, as  well as from our school float. Having pictures from the parade as well as "into" the parade should have the variety needed to actually show this once a year event.

I hope this turns out well, because I had fun taking all the pictures.

My first impression of a photo essay is one along the lines of a collage full of pictures and small captions. A real photo essay is connecting a picture and the story associated with that picture.
