Carolyn Stanley, a teacher in Connecticut, sent us this "vacation video" of one of Sara Sutter's students, Eden, reflecting on a history of photography project that Sara's and Susan Ettenheim's Photography classes did in the Spring of 2009.

This morning our whole district got together for a keynote from Monte Selby before embarking on a full day of professional development in a couple different areas.

A big part of Selby's keynote was about painting the picture. His website states that he is "The World's Foremost Musical Comentator on American Education." That being said, he plays guitar and sings. And using this idea of painting the picture he related songwriting to teaching. As a songwriter one thing you must do to have a successful song is create an image in the listener's mind. Without that image, the listener will most likely be moving on to something else.

The title sparked an interest discussion with respect to blog communication. Should teachers expect the formal rules associated with orthography, etymology syntax ,and the prosody of grammar to be followed--because that is what they know.

How many years did the church prosecute, killed, and burned people at the stake because they wanted them to keep on saying the world was flat.

Should teachers who do not know the language of the students impose on them what language to use, or should they go out and learn the language to communicate with the students? If a teacher do not know the language that is being used, will they be eventually be out of a job?

Blogging is really boring. It can be kind of cool to read some blog posts, especially if someone knows what they're talking about and are passionate about it, but most of us are just not that interesting to have lengthy topics nor do most of us have time to develop and articulate them well. So in the interest of sparing you a blog post I will outline the top 3 reasons why blogging is always going to have a niche status for particular areas but discussion groups will rule the day in the Blogosphere.

This image below of men on a scaffold describes collaboration on 2 levels - imagine the man on the top controls what everyone beneath him does and while people will try to convince him and those in between the bottom and the top that what they want to do is best, the man on top controls all. What discussion allows is for people to move up and down the ladder to work with the person that is on top to create the best product possible. This I believe leads to more engagement in work and promotes more creativity.

There is a lot of things I care about that I write on youthvoices.

This website is girls scouts talking to teens about internet safety.

The Area of interaction that I chose is Environment. For my personal project, I am going to improve my acting skills and learn new things.

Here's "the grid": Participating in Youth Voices (One Week of Assignments)

Through the process of working on the personal project, I have become more interested in several topics.

On Monday I went back to the Senior Center.  I did not get a chance to help my last senior which I was working with the last time, but I worked with a lady named Margaret.  What we did was look and find some item that she could buy on Amazon, which she got a gift card for.  So we mostly just searched for some items, and we could not find a item that was 10 dollars that is includi
