I am exploring Times Square, in New York City. I am interested in this because TImes Square is like no other place in the world. it blends a myriad of different cultures and lives until you can only see the big picture; people living completely different lives, and yet somehow staying completely in sync with each other. i am interested in this because i believe the Times Square embodies the heart and soul of New York City.

I took the first photograph, and you can see people rushing around, as well as people standing still; there were cars, and a few birds flying around the scenery.  I know that this picture was taken at around rush hour, and that because of that the human and vehicle traffic were elevated from what they would have normally been (even though Times Square is useally very busy anyways). My interpretation of this photograph is that this is the moment at which there are the most people throughout Times Square, and this is when you can see the most people doing what they will in the center of New York City.

It has been said that one image is worth a thousand words. This could be true about this Photograph because it shows people in their daily lives, and then it shows people who are having a day that is out of the ordinary. in Times Square, everyone is co-existing, and yet they all may have completely different lives. if you wanted to, you could literally try to describe every person in this picture physically, emotionally, and purposefully. It reflects my theme in that it shows the true spirit of New York City's architecture and people. it shows many different people from many different places living in a single environment, and co-existing.

One thing that I know about Times Square is that it has some of the most jumbled together architecture and advertisements in the world. in TImes Square, there are literally entire buildings dedicated to giant signs and advertisements. One thing that I wonder about why so many different kinds buildings were chosen to be erected in this one area of Manhatten. was there a specific idea or purpose, or did many people simply randomly put up these buildings in the same area? This makes me think of the purposes and/of groupings of buildings in the rest of the city.

The second image was created by draskin2013 and I found it in the youth voices group at flickr.com, at this URL: http://www.flickr.com/photos/42657621@N02/3981763644/sizes/m/.  In this image, i see my image, yet from a much farther point of view. The center of this image is the same building in Times Square, but the building is much farther away.  the picture was taken around the same time as my picture, because all of the advertisements on the building are the same, however, it was on a different day bcause when i took my image the sky was clearer, in this one, the sky is a little bit brighter and the light is being refracted through the clouds.  My interpretation of this image is that  change will happen over time, and there is nothing that anyone can do to prevent it (in the long run at least).

The second image relates to my photograph because this photograph is my image, but from a farther point of view. As I look at this and other images, my next image will show more aspects of the people who live and travel around New York City. If I were to look up some information about my theme/topic, I would like to know more about the buildings and advertisements that have been built up around that area (and why).

Since you are reading this post, I would like to ask you if you have ever felt the same feeling that i feel when i am in Times Square (and where it happened); if you have ever felt the feeling of being a single part of the bigger whole.
