I don't play tons of video games, just a few computer games and puzzles things online. I really like board and card games like Scrabble and Uno. I don't spend much time playing games; probably half an hour or less. I don't really have tons of time to spend playing games and I don't like to waste money on things that I would only use once or twice, and then totally forget about it.
The game I love to play at home is Harry Potter Quidditch World Cup. It is a computer game that is really fun. You can play as any team, or character, not just Harry Potter. It is highly addicting because you want to win as many games and practice challenges so you can unlock trading cards and new flying moves. The more Quidditch games you win, the higher chance you have in going to the Quidditch World Cup and play against a professional team. I can play this game for hours on end, when I have the time to spare. The graphics aren't that great, but it is high pace and can make a person go a little crazy!
Playing Ayiti, was not fun at all, I lost interest in the first 5 minutes. I thought that a game like this was very wrong to make. I did not understand why did anyone would want to make this or play this game. To me, it felt like this game was a mockery of Haitian lifestyle. I just did not like this game and had no fun playing it. I am not sure I would recommend this game to anyone, but it does shed some light on the living conditions of people in Haiti.
If Harry Potter Quidditch World Cup was a drug, it would be the most addicting drug imaginable, for me any way. When I turn it on I just want to play non-stop. With my keyboard, screen, a bag of Cheetoes and Odwalla fruit smoothie, I can go on for hours playing! Sometimes, my mom would have to turn off my computer so that I can go do something productive like homework or walking the dog.
If Ayiti was a drug, It would be disgusting cough syrup. Hard to swallow, disgusting taste, but needed to help take away your cough. It is a game that not a lot would like to play, but, in a slight mocking tone, show the disadvantages and hard decisions that the people of Haiti have to make.
If someone who has never played Harry Potter Quidditch World Cup, I would not know how to explain it to them in words. I would have to show them how I play. There are many keyboard combination and technical stuff that is better to show than tell. But the basics of the game is to pick a Hogwarts team and then through practice games, you build up each persons strengths and unlock trading cards and keyboard combos for new flying moves. Then you challenge different Hogwarts teams and beat them so you get a higher rank and be able to play for the house cup. When you win the house cup, you get to go to the Quidditch World Cup and play against one of the professional teams.

Yo Alexis! I love your
Yo Alexis! I love your comparison of Ayiti to Cough Syrup, its so funny and true. @_@ But Ayiti was fun at certain times, I don't think it was made to mock Haitians or their lifestyle, but instead to show people that the conditions there aren't that great (to put it lightly).
Lexi, I agree with Jess! I
Lexi,
I agree with Jess! I would never imagine comparing Ayiti: Cost of Life with cough syrup... it's actually pretty interesting! I've always thought of cough syrup as a neccessity for when someone is sick & some of them taste good! XD Like that pink one... but too much cough syrup is also very bad. I guess I've never thought about it the way you put it... But I do agree with what you're saying! :]
While reading your piece, I can definately hear your voice screaming "Quidditch!!" in my ear. o_o;; As much as I love Harry Potter, I would probably not play it. Just because I think I'll get addicted so I'm better off not playing for my own sake. XD Great job! Your descriptions were simple & straight forward - I likey! :]

Dear Alexis, I liked your
Dear Alexis,
I liked your post, Harry Potter Quidditch World Cup because I find it pretty funny and amusing how you compared the games asre like drugs. Liked how you compared the Ayiti game to cough syrup because it is a pretty boring game at first, but I think it's ok as you play more of it.
One sentence that you wrote that stood out for me is, "If Ayiti was a drug, It would be disgusting cough syrup. Hard to swallow, disgusting taste, but needed to help take away your cough." This stood out for me because it's interesting how you can comnpare the game to medicine.
Another sentence that you wrote that stood out for me is, "With my keyboard, screen, a bag of Cheetoes and Odwalla fruit smoothie, I can go on for hours playing." this stood out for me because I understand how addicting games can be. time also passes by very fast when your having fun. One minute the sun is up and then it dissapears.
I do agree with you that, why would anyone make a game like this. Its would be pretty bad if someone made a game about hurricane Katrina or about 9/11. It's pretty disrespectful.
Thansk for your writing. I look forward to seeing what your write next because I liked your comparisons and also your opinion.
When you said, " Playing
When you said, " Playing Ayiti was not fun at all, I lost interest in the first 5 minutes," I totally agree with you. The game was very boring for many of my classmates and I. Even though I finally started doing really well and winning, I still think it wasn't a great game and could be made much better.
I dissagree with you and the
I dissagree with you and the author of this page. I think Ayiti is a great game where you must make desicons that affect your virtual life. It is a game of life were, yes sometimes people must die, but the point is to prevent it. I thank the UNICEF for making that great game.
I agree with you that the
I agree with you that the game was wrong to make. I would like to play this HP game. Did you win I did. It gets interesting once you play it 4 times
i agree with you that this
i agree with you that this game seems to make people lose intrest in it. after my family started to get sick it made me quickly lose interest in it. to me the game was extremely depressing. although i won four times it still is very depressing. one second you are doing fine with the family and then all of a sudden you are in poverty because of a cold. then people die and you whole family loses their jobs due to depression. this game however does teaches you what had happened to Haiti and the hard work needed to survive in this world. it gets interesting only when you have made an abundance of money so you can allow the family to relax. i believe the game overall was okay but they could make it a little better to interest more people when playing the game.
i think that what you posted
i think that what you posted was very interesting, how you compared two completely different games together. I never played a harry potter game, but by what you said i may try it out to see how it is. Ayiti, its a game that i would never want to play when i have free time, even though it is a real eye opener to the world. overall great job on the post.
When you said that Ayiti was
When you said that Ayiti was very wrong compared to Harry Potter and the Quidditch World Cup, I couldnt agree more because I'm a HUGE fan about harry potter ad i know just about everything about all 7 books so when I played Ayiti- I'm so used to strategy- it seemed like it didnt have any.
