I'm learning more about Sonia Sotomayor right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is why was she chosen to become first Hispanic Supreme Court Justice. As I was reading in my Google Reader this podcast caught my attention because it shows the reaction of Judge Sotomayor when President Barack Obama nominated her. It also caught my attention because it describes all of her achievements and the reactions of some other people.
The quote I chose here is basically saying how Judge Sonia Sotomayor grew up, strived through her study's and eventually achieved her goal.
I think this is very interesting because she says how hard she tried to achieve her goals. It makes me wonder if anyone could achieve what she achieved.
Although I grew up in very modest and challenging circumstances, I consider my life to be immeasurably rich. I was raised in a Bronx public housing project but studied at two of the nation’s finest universities. I did work as an assistant district attorney, prosecuting violent crimes that devastate our communities. But then I joined a private law firm and worked with international corporations doing business in the United States. I have had the privilege of serving as a federal district court trial judge and am now serving as a federal appellate circuit court judge.
