Probably Our Favorite Character In Every Story

Discussion by: eric_yu2001 on Sun, 2016-06-05 20:38 with 0 comments

There has been a type of archetype in literature that I'm sure we are all greatly fond of. It creates humor, emotion and spirit as we read the story, and we become very emotional about that character. The archetype I'm talking about is actually pinpointed to a single (or two) character, and he is usually the one that is always different from the others. You see, literature's element of conflict has the characters mainly being serious and worrying about one certain situation.

Our Evolving Society

Today's society consists of a variety of behaviors. What makes America, our home country, special is that it gives plenty of room for expanding a student's knowledge, abilities and strengths. In Communist countries, like China, it is believed that uniform was the best way of handling things. For example, everyone moved at the same pace in school. There were no honors, AP or extra study classes for gifted. Most chinese students, starting at elementary age wore school uniforms.

Is Donald Trump Really That Bad?

First off, I do NOT support Donald Trump. I think his actions and his plans for the "new America" is completely ignorant, and ignores the foundation of our country as a whole. This thread is mainly to raise arguments about the true reasons of Donald Trump's success so far in the Republican party.

Youth Voices has completely lost purpose.

I love this website, and a small handful of people do too. As a new comer to the website, I began pouring economic and social beliefs into this society as a purpose to make a change. Although this change will not be big, it will mean something to the young and fresh minds reading this on their phones and laptops. I always have been convinced by my teacher's actions that it was basically a site to post assignments and projects. And as far as I am disappointed, this site is nothing but that.

Is education boring for a reason?

What is the first thing you think of when someone says the word "school"? People usually say stress, grades, brain numb, maybe even stupid or boring, but consider the reason why students may say that, although they are told many times that education is a privilege. Does this mean that our schooling system in the United States may be too loose on pressuring our students into academic achievement?

Athletes are a bit over rated.

Today, school fame is mostly stacked upon athletics and sports. You can get really famous and popular in school by exceeding in sports, and as a non athlete and an all time musician, I really do see this difference between athletes and musicians and academic achievers. Now, most of this is caused by the looks and the student's natural interest into sports, but another lies on how schools may over favor athletes over others.

Mind Games, Good or Nah?

Today, with digital phones and laptops, the gaming community has grown rapidly over the days. Gaming institutes launched mobile and mini-brain games, that some of them have torn through the gaming market. Although many people still argue that these games are as worse as games such as Black Ops and Minecraft, I can argue that these small, compact brain games could contribute to the finding of well trained men and women for higher positions of jobs.

Booktalk: A mob's weakness

Everyone knows from the start of our childhood and from lecturing from our parents and teachers that bullying is a wrong thing to do, and yet it still happens. We have also been taught that standing up to bullies and supporting the victim is also an efficient way to stop bullying.

Can A Serial Killer Be Good?

Discussion by: eric_yu2001 on Thu, 2015-11-12 23:51 with 2 comments

First off, the book Project Cain is a very hard to understand and a very non-descriptive book. The author oftenly jumps around and never describes the events clearly, but it is a good book worth reading if you are interested into mystery and suspense novels. The main character, Jeff Jacobson, learns that he is cloned to a deadly serial killer named Jeffery Dahmer. He also then learns that other deadly serial killers are being cloned, and he has to stop it with another guy named Castillo.

Today, I am here to express how I feel about this story.
