Youth Voices To Me

Discussion by: AnnieS on Mon, 2010-06-14 10:32 with 0 comments

I am taking digital photography so most of my work on youth voices involve photos and photo discussions. It's easy for me to comment on popular pieces using the new current and popular tabs. It is hard for me to get other people to see my work if it is not new or does not have as many views as other people's pieces. I think other people have the same problem as me but I enjoy taking the times to search for really striking pieces. I wish we could talk to people on a more personal level about their work rather than just commenting. I think an inbox where we could right messages to people would be really interesting and useful.

NYC Collage

For the past couple of months, I have been taking and editing pictures of New York City. I decided to make a collage of the work I have done so far. Although my collage looks confusing, individual parts make sense when looking at them alone. This is the kind of message I want to send to people looking at my picture. New York City as a whole can come across as puzzling but individual parts and neighborhoods are interesting and striking.

Something I have become interested in learning more about is the NYC skyline and how it has changed over the years. I started to become interested in Berenice Abbott because because he would take pictures of buildings in NYC. So far I have learned that Berenice Abbott was born in Ohio but moved to New York City when she was twenty to pursue photography. She mostly took black and white photos of New York City architecture. Abbott payed attention to minor details when taking photos and showed different aspects of urban life and the diversity of New York City.

How am I doing?

For the past few months, I have been working on my photography skills in school and I think I have really improved. My first picture was of time square. I then wanted to focus on smaller parts of NYC like a street of avenue. I did take a few pictures of streets in my neighborhood but I did not venture outside my neighborhood like I said I would. I also said i would take pictures when its dark outside to focus on the bright lights of NYC. I also said I would take bright, sunny pictures of NYC. I have a few bright pictures but I would like to take more.

I am exploring the sense of mood of New York City for my digital photography project. I am interested in this theme because I live in New York City and I like to understand how different places make me feel or how I react to my location. I became interested in this idea after I looked at other photographer's work from from different areas of the world. These pictures inspired me to look around my own loacation. I realized there are so many different areas in New York City that give me completely different feelings so I decided to expand on this idea.

In your letter, We Are all Created Equal  i think her ideas on global warming are very interesting and i agree with them. since sho doesnt believe in the war, then she must want Obama to win the election. i also agree with her thoughts on immigration.
