Photoshop Woodcut

Discussion by: The Mac Attack on Tue, 2010-06-08 12:26 with 0 comments

This is a photo that I edited using one of photoshops tips. I used the woodcut effect on my playmobile crash picture. I went through several steps in order to make everything int he picture appear as though it was wood and it was carved. I think it turned out successful and was fun to see the end product.

Best Picture

It was hard to choose what I thought to be my best photo from the year. After some thinking and consideration, I chose this picture. I chose it becuase it exemplified that i knew my way around photoshop. I started by taking a picture of two school buses (the other bus was where the lockers are now) from an angle that was almost right up against the buses to make them seem very long. I then took a picture of some school lockers from about the same anlge. After obtaining these two pictures, I cropped out the lockers and carried the lockers over the the buses picture. I then covered up one of the buses with the lockers, touched up the edges and tried to sharpen the image a little bit. In the end, it made for a unique effect, the bus being next to the lockers.

On Memorial Day I went to Fresh Market in order to purchase a few personal hygiene items. The first item I needed was deoderant, I prefer Old Spice Swagger. So i took a picture of the many types of deoderant available, but from a close angle to add a little something to the picture.

Playmobile Crash

This is a slideshow of a Playmobile I made and what the little charcters do when their ship crashes and gets stuck in a tree.

As you can see from the first picture, the ship is wedged in some tree branches and the characters are forming a chain in order to save their fellow shipmates. The second picture illustrates a closer and more detailed view of the first picture in the sequence. There is a character trying to climb back onboard while another character is trying to pull up the characters who have fallen off using spears, teamwork is key. The third picture shows a few of the characters crawling along a tree branch trying to get back to the ship. Obviously it is a mass mahem when your ship gets stuck in a tree. The fourth and final picture of this sequence shows one of the characters lying on the ground in an awkward position, sword and cape lying beside him. Unfortunately for him, not all passangers of the ship were saved.

Profile Picture

This is a picture that I took capturing the profile of Alex Baker. I used his head to block the light and an angle from down below to make the sun's light come off the top of his hair and highlight his facial structure. The top of his head also has a bright glare on it.

Force Perspective

This is an example of a picture using force perspective. This is having objects pose together in a picture making it seem as though something extraordinary is happening although in reality it is not. My subject in this picture in Benjamin Christian Cook and it appears as though he has his head far into a trash can. But actually, he it is not! Ben is standing slightly behind the trash can and and put the trash can in front of him in such a way that it looks as if he were sticking his head in there.

April 20th my photography class went on a walk around our school to take some pictures on a beautiful sring day. These are a couple of the pictures I took while on the walk. In both pictures a magnificent aura is coming off the the subjects and in their most prominent colors. I also got these birds to pose together which made for quite the unique picture.

3 Pictures From My Weekend

This is a picture of spilled salt on my counter. I thought it was an interesting angle because you can see many of the salt grains lying on the counter.

I took this second picture of the inside of my refridgerator this weekend. I like how it seems as though a lot is going on or fitted into a small area and the look of it just appealed to me.

This third picture I took over the weekend. It is an extravagent flower decoration and I tried taking the picture from a bird's eye veiw of it. I think that it captures the complexity of the flower piece and green mat under it.

In The Air

This is a photo I took for my Photography class that exhibits one of the twenty-six things we are aiming to take a picture of. In this picture I sampled the color of the rim of the basketball hoop using the application "InDesign". I then used this sampled color for the text under Ben's feet which reads "In The Air!!" (one of the twenty-six things). Here are more pictures of the twenty-six things I am taking pictures of at my flickr account.

Steve McCurry Inspirational Photo

In my photography class we studied some popular photographers. One person my group studied was Steve McCurry. He primarily photographs people in less developed nations and shoots portraits. He also tries not to use flash. This is a photo Steve McCurry took on the left. I then tried imitate his picture taking techniques and I took the photo on the right, which is my father. I did not use my flash in this picture, but used my porch light to illuminate him. You can find more os Steve McCurry's work at http://www.stevemccurry.com/main.php.
