My plot

The Kissena Corridor Park is right across the street from my school. It is a huge park.   It has a community garden, which people in the neighborhood call the Korean Community Garden. It has a baseball field, handball field, track field on one part of it. The other the parts have some swings. There's a playground. Many people come to this park to exercise, play, or work on the garden.

For a month we have been working on the community garden. We choose a plot and write about it. The garden is big, you can find many different plants, vegetables, fruits, and even flowers.

I am learn more about animal habitatin the oil spill right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is: What happen to animal habitat in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill? I was researching this question online, and this news item caught my attention because... It give good detail about how this oil spill is dangering them, and type of animal are in danger.

"Efforts are under way to keep the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico from reaching birds, mammals and critical shoreline habitats, but some marine biologists worry about the effects of the oil slick and the use of chemical dispersant on life underwater."from: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2010/04/28/us/20100428-spill-map.html

The quote I choose here is basically saying that people caring about the animal habitat, or stoping the oil to get to them, but they are using other chemical to clean up.

Set in the Dominican Republic, In the Time of the Butterflies depicts the lives of the Mirabal family between 1938 and 1994. The chapters are narrated by the four Mirabal sisters, Patria, Dedé, Minerva, and María Teresa, or Mate. Alvarez arranges events in roughly chronological order, though she excludes many years from the narrative and gives only brief treatment to the period between 1960 and 1994.

Section I: 1938 to 1946

The novel opens in 1994 with Dedé, the surviving Mirabal sister. She meets with an American woman who has come to interview her about her family. She recalls a time in 1943 when her father, Enrique, was predicting his daughters' futures. He tells Dedé that she will bury them all "in silk and pearls

In the recent years, sport began to play a more important part of our lives. It became so popular that the wages of the athletes are ridiculously high, although that’s only some of the athletes out of the majority. A ridiculous amount of hard work and practices is what is need to match up to this reward. Winning games is one important way to raise their self- value, and how much they’ll earn. Winning become so important that people would try anything to win, including taking drugs What is a most important thing for the athletes? Does doping have a negative impact? Why they cheat?

Can you Imagine living without your parents? The main character is Pony boy. He is a 14 year old boy who lives with his two brothers Darrel and Soda pop. They lost both their parents in a car accident (and crushed by a train). I am going to compare the book and the movie. The author of the book is Colin Wilson. She wrote, “ The Mind Parasites: The Supernatural, Metaphysical Cult Thriller.” It is an easy to read and understand book.

I chose this book because it is very interesting and I have learned a lot of things about life. One thing that I have learned is the importance of being careful. In fact before bringing a gun or a knife somewhere, one must think twice. It is also a very emotional story like when Johnny told Pony before he died “ Pony your gold, when you born everything change. Your really special do not waste your life.”. The foreshadowing and action make this book a quick read.

Here is a serious issue which was recently shared by a very concerned mother. Pam Zingeser says that her daughter Julie is obsessed with texting. Julie texts while at home, in the car while going to school, and at school. Pam is really getting worried as lately her daughter even brings her

phone every time she goes to the bathroom! Pam had the greatest shock of her life when one time she received her phone bill and learned that her daughter had sent and received a whopping 6,473 text messages!
