The tulips in the korean garden

Discussion by: aman on Thu, 2010-05-20 09:07 with 0 comments

My favorite plot in the Korean garden are the purple tulips because they were the most distinctive among the others. They were the first to catch my eye. The plot of tulips reminded me of my mother, who is in China right now for a visit. As soon as I saw the plot of tulips, I thought of how much I missed my mother and how I wish she were here to see them. The tulips were eye catching because it was surrounded by many other plain green leaves. It was as if it was grown there on purpose. I sat on a chair that was placed in front of the plot and sat there for a moment, feeling the breeze and staring into the sky. I looked around, watching the others write and admire the their plots. Some of them baffled me, for the reason because I could not understand why they chose such an ugly plot. Perhaps they were merely just being lazy and decided to choose the plot closest to the entrance. I found my plot to be in a great area, right in front of a big tree which provided me with shade; although I wouldn't have mind the sun beaming on my face.

Smart people don't smoke

Do you consider yourself smart? Well do you smoke? Because if you do, you might want to take a look at this essay that I've written. It is to inform idiots out there who think smoking is cool and that smoking isn't as bad as it sounds.

Recently, I've been on Unexplained Mysteriesto search for interesting topics to read from. It's one of my favorite websites to be on  whenever I'm bored, because its forums talk about mysteries that make people wonder. It takes the topics and dissects them into little parts so that it'd be easier for people to understand. Users on the site are able to share their ideas with other people and agree/disagree with each others ideas.  So as I was browsing around the site, what caught my eye was an article that titled Smoker loses six teeth after cigarette explodes. This sort of article caught my attention because, I've always disliked smokers; especially when you have to second-hand smoke whenever you're walking behind a person.

Left 4 Deaad and Ayiti

Ever since a friend of mine introduced me to a first person shooter game Left 4 dead, I'd became attached to the game ever since. As a person who enjoys playing games during her free time, I like just about any game that catches my attention and turns me into an addict. I think playing games is a great way to learn and stimulate the brain. It can help improve awareness, strategdy, and thinking speed.

Recently in Engilsh class, my teacher Mr Allison, introduced us to a game called Ayiti. It was created to give students a glimpse of what life is in Haiti. The goal of the game is to keep your family alive while giving them a good education and job. The game was pretty hard to me at first, due to the fact that I've never really played these kinds of games before. The first time I played this game, my entire family died before it was third year. However, the second time I played, I improved so much more. My family was able to survive all 4 years and was able to stay healthy, happy, and smart !

2010 Haiti Earthquake

Recently in english class,I've been studying about Haiti and its history. At first, I thought it was a stupid topic. I wasn't interested because I never liked knowing about other countries. However, after seeing multiple videos and readings about Haiti, I had a change of heart. It's really rare for me to feel sympathy for anything I've read. Reading the articles about Haiti made me feel sympathetic and angry. Many people who've also read the articles felt the same way, however, there were also people who didn't care.I mean, everybody has their own opinions. I think this is one of the most important issues in recent history because United States played a big role in Haiti's economy.

LUCID DREAMING

Discussion by: aman on Thu, 2010-01-14 22:58 with 1 comments

A few days ago, my and my friend had a long conversation about lucid dreaming. It was the first time I had ever heard of the word "lucid". He told me that the meaning of lucid dreaming, was that a person had the ability to control their dreams while sleeping. This sparked an interest in me because I had always wanted to lucid dream. Never in my life have I been able control my dreams. I find dreams a really interesting topic to talk about, because when a person is sleeping, it's as if they're leaving their bodies in order to go to another dimension. I thought to myself, why not make dreaming a fun thing to do? That was when I told myself I had to learn how to lucid dream.

In case you still don't understand what lucid dreaming is, I've decided to google lucid dreaming. Lucid dreaming is when the sleeper is aware that he or she is sleeping. When the dreamer is lucid, he or she can actively participate in and often manipulate the imaginary experiences in the dream environment. Lucid dreams can seem extremely real and vivid depending on a person's level of self-awareness during the lucid dream.

Fat & Stretch marks Considered beautiful!

I remember reading an article from Seventeen magazine a few months ago... and this topic decided to pop into my head today. The article speaks about a place in Mauritania, West Africa where men viewed stretch marks as a sign of beauty..  The fatter you are there, the more likely it is that you'll find a husband. You might think, " Wow, that's wonderful! I won't ever have to think about gaining weight! I'd be able to eat whatever I want! However, it might not be as good as it seems.Young girls there have to go through force feeding- in order to fattening them up and make themselves more desirable. From the article it states, "Some young girls spend hours each day in the stifling heat, forced to stuff themselves with couscous and high-fat camel's milk. Vomiting only leads to another helping of food."Even in Mauritania's more progressive cities, some women are willing to do anything for a fuller figure, including buying black-market drugs meant for animals.

How am I doing?

A post that has a main idea along with supporting points. It has to be captivating and interesting. It should be organized and grammar checked. There shouldn't be too much writing because some people have short attention spans. There should also be information from other sources such as articles and radios. An image would also be helpful to the reader, as it would help the reader visualize the story.

I have been reading a lot lately. Reading helps me relax and enjoy myself. I feel as if im in another dimension; in my own little world. I've been posting a lot about myths and theories lately; such as 2012 and mythical creatures. My posts aren't the best, but I consider it to be good because it has enough information to back it up; enough to satisfy the readers interest. I think I've commented on posts a lot of times this marking period. Only the ones that are interesting I comment on because then, I have a lot to write about.
