Garden

Discussion by: smohiuddin on Thu, 2010-05-20 10:14 with 0 comments

Our English teacher thought of this project where we have go to the garden near our school and odserve a plot. The garden is called Kassina Corndor Park Garden It was kind of boring because my plot never really changed. It was always the same. But going outside our classroom was always great most of the time the weather was disgusting it was either cold or cloudy. But sometimes it was nice and sunny which was beautiful.

On Wednesday my class went outside to the Korean garden. It was freezing outside no one wanted to be outside that day but we were forced to. Our teacher asked us to pick a plot and write about it. I picked a plot that had some plants that looked like spinach leaves. There were also some flowers on the sides. I took pictures of the garden that i will put up later.

The second day we went back to the garden I saw that the plants on my garden grew and it looked like red spinach. I recognized it because we eat it at home sometimes. It tastes really good if its fresh.

Snow

It might snow tonight! I hope it snows a lot tonight so that we get off tomorrow from school. I don't wanna come to school. I think two weeks ago we got a snow day and it was great. But the next day when it was disgusting outside we had school. I didn't come to school but a lot of other people did. I don't like snow because it gets slippery outside and we have to be care full when we walk. But other then that its much better then rain sometimes.

One thing that's hard about this topic is that its something I want. I always get lost when we do this thing because a lot of things come in my mind and my writing just becomes a jumble of thoughts. And it doesn't make any sense to me later on.

I don't have any gut reacting to this thing. My teacher asked me what was in my mind and SNOW was in my mind because that was the fist thing I heard this morning. WHY DONT WE GET SNOW DAYS MORE OFTEN ??? I came to NY in 2004 and this year I got my first snow day. Last year it didn't snow at all and this year there's a lot of snow. One thing I like about snow is that fresh snow looks beautiful outside. But then when they start to clean it, it looks disgusting.

Aspergers Syndrome

Something that I have been interested in learning more about has been Aspergers Syndrome. I remember reading about it in Dear John, John's dad had this syndrome. Then I learned about it a little in my psych class. Lately, the disorder caught my eye again after I saw a movie. I know that many people don't know a lot about this. From what I have heard, people with Aspergers Syndrome are like regular people but they want things a certain way.For example, I heard that they have time table that they follow everyday. Now that's just what I've heard, it may or may not be true.

One thing that I know for sure about Aspergers Syndrome is that they don't have a easy life. Now I've studied my share of Science, and found out that people with Aspergers Syndrome can do everything that a regular person does but for them everything is in a order or a specific way.

Aspergers Syndrome a neurological disorder was named for the Austrian pediatrician, Dr. Hans Asperger, who first described the disorder in 1944. People with Aspergers Syndrome have don't have a lot of interests or hobbies. They have can't express themselves easily they are introverts.

Games

What I'm good at

Not all games are the same. There are board games,e-games,video games, computer games played for fun or time pass . All seem to be designed to win a game. While some are played simply for fun. Whatever game it is, the goals are always the same to win the game.

I am not a big fan of games but my brother is. And I see him play his ps3 whenever he can with his friends online. The only game I can play are the fighting games because all I have to do is press buttons. But the other games like call of duty and rock band you have to pay attention and know what each buttons does.

One game that I use to play was dragon ball z. I use to love playing that game because  I would win most of the time. For this game I didn't have to know much, just press a few buttons and I would win the fight. Now I don't play these games anymore because I don't have the patient to play it.

2010 Haiti Earthquake

Discussion by: smohiuddin on Fri, 2010-01-22 20:10 with 0 comments

Recently in English class we've been talking about the 2010 Haiti earthquake. At first when I heard about that earthquake I though it was just another devastating earthquake but when we started talking about it in class I learned that Haiti has been through a lot. I first heard about the earthquake in facebook, I saw some pictures in a support Haiti group and the pictures looked horrible. I didn't know much about Haiti until this week when we had to do some research on 2010 Haiti earthquake.

One thing I know for sure is that Haiti has been through a lot of struggle and they are still struggling. In english class we watched a Video where a doctor in Haiti was interviewed. The doctor was talking about how many people are injured and needs to be operated but they don't have a lot of space for operation also they don't have the right supplies to conduct an operation.

Progeria

Something that I have been interested in learning more about has been Progeria. I heard about this disease in a bollywood movie called Paa. The movie was about a 12 year old boy with Progeria and how his life was. After I saw the movie I got curious and started doing some research about this disease. From what I have heard, Progeria is a rare disease which makes a young child look like an older person which is called premature aging. For example, in the movie a 12 year old kid looked like he was in his 60s.

One thing that I know for sure about Progeria is that its caused by some gens problem and a lot of people don't know about this disease because this is a very rare disease. Now I've studied my share of Science, and now I know a little more about the disease.

Progeria is unknown to many people. I never knew that this kind of disease existed. Researching was kind of had because most articles were about the movie and there were only few about the disease.

Am I still gonna have contact with my high school friends?

Discussion by: smohiuddin on Sun, 2009-12-06 16:22 with 0 comments

In high school I meet some amazing people and became friends with them. My group of friends changed over years but I'm still friends with everyone. My best friends in school are these three girls Diane, Diana, and Allesia. I love them a lot and in school I'm mostly with them. We are all different from each other which makes us very good friends because we have a lot to talk about. One thing that's great about our friendship is that we can be honest with each other. Although we might not take it very well sometimes but we understand each others concerns. Also we support each others decision. When ever I do something I talk to them about it because I know that if I am wrong they will tell me.

Other then these three girls there are some other amazing people like Helen, Rea, Michelle Sujeong, Edgar ,William, Jonathan, Jordan and many more. I don't think I will ever forget them or my time in high school. We had a lot of fun in our school since 9th grade. The Every year of high school was different but fun.

Multiple Personality Disorder

Something that I have been interested in learning more about has been Dissociative Identity Disorder or DID formerly know as Multiple Personality Disorder. This disorder happens when one goes through a tragic event or a lot of stress. I remember watching a drama where the main character had DID, that was the first time I heard of this disorder, but I didn't learn anything about it because I didn't believe that it really existed. Lately, the issue has caught my eye again after I learned about it in my psychology class. That's when I realized that this disorder was real and it really happened to people.
