Running One Way into the Dark of the Night

I take photographs because I love the feeling of freezing time. Whenever I take a photo, I have just stopped the world because nothing can change what is in the photo. That image has become immortalized. It can't change. That feeling is so gratifying and so breathtaking. And it is for that feeling that I take photos.

When I go somewhere I always make sure my camera is with me. I never know when I will see something that I will want to photograph. There is always something out there so I have to be prepared. Unfortunately, I know that the one day I don't have my camera with me I will see the perfect thing, the perfect 'photograph' but no way of taking a picture. That will be a sad day.

Inspired by Steve McCurry because of his work and dedication

Something I have become interested in learning more about is global photography. I started to become interested in Steve McCurry because he travels around the world taking fantastic photos. So far I have learned that anywhere you go, photos are waiting to be taken.

I had a lot of goals when I entered this class. After 3 months, I have accomplished many tasks and took on a few difficult challenges. While I haven't completed my goals to a 'T' I have learned a lot about Photoshop and how to make my photos more striking. I have gotten some really strong feedback from the Youthvoices community along with an email from the creator of Youthvoices. Winterbreak is coming up and I'm likely to take a ton of photos while I'm in the state of California. Here are some example photos of mine:

Street Signs with Deeper Meanings

I am exploring street signs. I am interested in this because they aren't the most interesting things but the photographer can make the picture interesting so it is a challenge.

Street Signs Are Everywhere

I am exploring NYC and their different street signs and other things that represent NYC. I am interested in this because I have been able to take pictures of signs that come out well. But that is not the only reason... also, people don't always read or understand street signs.

My Street Sign Photo

In this photograph, I see part of a street sign, a smoke stack in the background and a very blue sky. I know that this is in the middle day. My interpretation of this photograph is that I didn't want to center the sign. I wanted more of the sky and less of the sign.

It has been said that one photograph is worth a thousand words. This could be true about this photograph because it shows nature in a city aspect. It reflects my theme in that this picture makes NYC and street signs connect and the sign looks better than it normally does.
