Inspired by Michael Kenna

Something I have become interested in learning more about is landscape photography. I started to become interested in Michael Kenna because his photographs are very plain and simple of landscapes and mine are a bit opposite because they is more going in the picture and my photographs aren't as simple.  I was really interested in Michael Kenna because he takes a simple object and makes it look amazing and interesting by keeping the photo simple. So far I have learned that Michael Kenna's photography is focused on unusual landscapes, that are photograhed in the early morning or night in black and white.

Digital Photography Reflection

In my digital photography class, I think I'm doing pretty well with my theme.  I feel as though I have changed what I'm taking pictures of within my topic.  I originally started my theme as being The East Village, and then I moved onto taking pictures of graffiti in the East Village.  I would like to have some more feedback on my second photo discussion, so maybe I can make my work better.  I also think I'm doing well with changing my pictures to make them look better, and this is teaching me what I need to change in my photographs.

Graffiti Discussion

I am exploring the East Village. I am interested in this because its the neighborhood I live in, and I think there are many interesting things that are worth photographing there.

I took the first photograph, and you can see it is a peace mural. I know that this is a graffiti mural. My interpretation of this photograph is that its trying to get the message of peace out by expressing this art in the neighborhood.
It has been said that one image is worth a thousand words. This could be true about this photograph because it sends people a message through graffiti art, which may attract attention to people. It reflects my theme in that it was taken in the East Village, but also that it is something interesting, that may not be seen in other neighborhoods.
One thing that I know about the East Village is that there is a lot of graffiti in the area, but most of it may be considered vandalism. One thing that I wonder about graffiti is if its considered art.

Digital Photography Topic

I am exploring New York (the East Village). I am interested in this because I want to photograph the more detailed and interesting things of one neighborhood.  In my photograph here, you can see a door and a step going down. There is also a lot of graffiti.  I know that this is some type of entrance and it is located on Rivington Street.  My interpretation of this photograph is that this entrance is not to an apartment building.

It has been said that one photograph is worth a thousand words. This could be true about this photograph because it has many small details and there are many things going on here in the photo . It reflects my theme in that it shows a part of the Lower East Side, and its probably one of those lesser seen things.
