The Queens Gardens

When I first got to the gardens all i saw was this huge place of tranquility and of nature in the middle of this huge city.  I was not that shocked in seeing it since I have been very close to this garden and could see it through the windows of my school.  But what is very interesting is seeing what is going on with this place and what people do here and how they come together to plot some plants and grow together as a community.  I remember seeing this place when it snows not a lot of people there but still there was some people there fixing some stuff or maybe turning the dirt to keep it fresh for the spring or something.  I remember seeing a lot of stuff go on in here but I mean I never thought of actually going in there and doing stuff and being part of that garden.  As me and my class went into the garden I saw a lot of people just staring at us saying what are they doing here or what are they going to do.  Although I have been there before last year to just ask some questions I still remember them looking at us like if we were there to observe them or something.  As we went in there and I started to look for my plot I remember seeing and

Urgent Evoke...the mission to one step closer to saving the world.

A few weeks ago, I became an agent in a global network of social innovators. Urgent EVOKE: A Crash Course in Saving the World opened on March 3, 2010. It’s a social network site, a game, a real life mission, and a communication network where people from around the world come together to share ideas for problems we might face in the future, all in one. It was designed and is directed by Jane McGonigal for the World Bank Institute.

The Sad Lonely Sky

As I watch outside I see that darkness and greyness of the clouds that makes the day seem like a lot of people have perished in one blast. It makes me feel like I am the only one in the world that is feeling like the day and is making me feel like there is nothing better to do then just stare up into the sky, and look and wonder when the light will come back again. It is almost spring and there should be the warm southern air coming in from the south coming into the cold and dark and white north. I feel more comfortable when the sun is out when there is light and almost nothing is hiding in shadow, no shadow time no place to be left in the darkness. Now in the sky I see a dark sky and the heaviness of rain, or snow or sleet or hail coming down.

Two Different games, that are very similar

Games are like a get away form the real life problems, in a way if you loose in a game you get to start allover again and have no problem with that.  But in life you can not start again and you have to deal with your losses and hope that you get another chance to try again.  A game is a way of entertainment, for other people a way of life and a way of career and a way of making a living, its a lot of ways people can take gaming.  I personally don't have that much interest in games, I am more of a realistic person like to treat my life as a game only without the fact that you don't have a second or third chance in some occasions.  I know that sometimes when I do find a game that I really like I get stuck in it for hours and hours and hours, trying to perfect myself, and my skills in the game world.  But in the end when I am done I get tired because once you finish the game, there is no more to learn no more to perfect so it gets boring after that.  In a way that is why I treat life as a game because although there is not a lot of chances to start again, you don't have a specific end and you can just keep going and keep growing and you can make it to

HAITI 2010 Earthquake

Recently in English we have been doing a study about what went on in Haiti.  At first I thought that it was a regular earthquake and that it was not going to be something that would go and be something like Katrina maybe something as much as like the tsunami where it was very important but not that important as in fro the long run.  I thought that maybe the country would receive much more attention from other Caribbean countries int he world and that they would be getting our help but not as much as to be sending ten thousand soldiers in to their country and completely taking control of the situation.  I also did not know what was going on with the relations that both America and Haiti have had in their past.  I did not know about what ex president Bush had done, when he went into he country took the president and send him to South Africa to then send in some troops that we had into the country without any consent or any permission from anyone.  It was as if they own the island and the country belongs to the united states.  When I saw the interviews and heard the news and learned some history from other people that were telling us what really happen

A Push to legalize gay marriage

Wow its some news that is going on in the world right now a lot of social issues that have never come upon the light of day are now being discussed, and in a way that it should not be, in other places like Portugal the discussion about gay marriage and the acceptance is being taken quiet lightly people are not protesting its like people are saying OK let them have their marriage.  But why is it so hard for people here in the states take this and make it something legal so that our quote about being a nation for the liberty and the free be true.  I hate the idea of not being able to get married, of not being able to be with the people we love and not being able to say this is my husband/wife, just because people are not allowing it because of tradition and now the obvious reason is not just that it's the simple fact that they have hate for LGBT  people in the U.S, and its sad that because of hate they are stripping our rights away and our freedoms.

"A push to legalize same-sex marriages in New Jersey faces a crucial test Thursday, as the State Senate is scheduled to vote on the issue.

As We Enter 2010

As we enter 2010 the issues are getting much more of importance in the government.  As states see that there is change that is coming to their neighbor states they start to see if it is time for them to be heading into the transition of change as well.  As people are growing, as generations are coming and going as well, people start having a new base of ideas and what life should be and the true definition of liberty in this country.  It is 2010 and now its time for change it has been a year of Obama's presidency and a lot of people are saying what is he really doing for the LGBT community what is he working on, and where is his promises that he made to help out the community in this time of change and challenges.

The Fight Continues for Gay Marriage

Discussion by: eguaman on Mon, 2009-11-23 23:34 with 2 comments

I continue to do some research on gay rights and with the media coming in from all directions it is helping me a lot understand the movement that is now going on in this nation and the position people are taking for the fight for equality.  I like the fact that during these times people are becoming more open, I have been doing some research and found out that a court in California will be bringing up the same-sex marriage bill back up again on to discussion and for voting to see if they are going to make it something that would be legal fro the state of California.  So far the entire, well almost entire New England part of the nation has already passed the bill and made it part of its laws to legalize same sex marriage and keep it like that, now its just hopefully going to be a domino effect where one state does it and the other states will do it eventually.   Its almost going to be 2010 and the country is going through a lot and seems like the worst that has happened with the economic issues has already happened so I mean now the time of peace and of change is coming up hopefully by next year this whole gay marriage will be a issue of the past and soon we w
