Should We Be Eating Bugs?

Discussion by: 18keegane on Tue, 2015-05-19 22:15 with 2 comments

What you think of bugs, what do we picture? Creepy crawly spawns of satan? They appear as some people’s worst nightmares while others love them. This phobia of bugs definitely develops more so in western cultures than in eastern. In most countries, they like them so much that they even eat them! Shocking, I know. I mean if so many cultures view this creepy treat as a delicacy, how can it be bad? Many people may have a defense for this. Although, this does bring the question into light: Should we eat bugs?

When entering High School, and even college the pressure to do well or at least get by in school becomes harder and harder. Trying to keep up with schoolwork, extra-curriculars, socializing, and sleep seems to be nearly impossible. Under this amount of stress children seem to resort to an easy but extremely risky form of getting their work done, plagiarism. It may seem like the best idea at the time, but the repercussions if a student gets caught can be extreme. In a lot of colleges, it can lead to expulsion and in High School, it could cause the student to fail the class.

Today in society, music is everywhere. You can hear it blasting from cars, computers, people singing on the subway. It’s popularity, variety, and spread shows how much of a fundamental part of life it is. People can’t help but tap their foot to the tune of their favorite song or have a melody stuck in their head all day. Music always seems more interesting than actual life and talking so therefore it is also a go-to destresser. In general, music is important in the growth and shaping of teenage minds.

In this new developing world, technology is becoming more and more prominent in our everyday lives. Including, now in schools. schools all over the US are adopting e-books in an effort to make learning easier for students. This, in many ways is good because there can be easy of access of materials but it does have its drawbacks. Many people do not enjoy e-books because it can be confusing and there is not much flexibility with highlighting and folding papers. It also does not provide the real experience with reading book and studying.

I have spent the last day creating an avatar for this website. It was not a hard process, but it sure was a pretty long one. It took me 3 hours just to make it. This project tested my skills as a photo editor, but also my will power to give my all into this. It all started with me, finding a picture that I thought represented me. I chose a cat and a smiley face because I am a happy person :). Then I had to think about how I was going to make it, with what program will I do this with? I chose pixlr.com and befunky.com, thise sites are really good for editing by the way. I then had to plan.
