The Most Interesting Thing

Discussion by: tylerp on Fri, 2011-03-18 10:43 with 2 comments

The most interesting thing i have found out through my research is the fact that the Egyptians, the Greeks, the Romans, and ancient Chinese cultures all have similar beliefs in the afterlife and all of which have to do with the existance of ghosts. They do vary in thier exact beliefs but all of which believe that the angry spirits stay and haunt the living. Also most of them have a God that is the ruler over the dead souls.

When researching on Ebsco online database i found an article that states the evolution of belief in paranormal phenomenon. It was a very good source, it had been peer reviewed and published. What i found was a first of a three part series. I will read the rest of the series in the near future. Looking on EBSCO was very helpful because it showed me legitamite articles that were solid and not just some guy talking about ghosts on the internet which is what i was getting a lot of off of google. A big part of this part of the series was how belief in the paranormal seemed to have been taking the place of an organized religion. For example when belief in reincarnation or apparitions was stronger they believed less in a specific religion, they author used catholicism as an example. This was a very useful source and plan to refer to it often for information.

The Physics homework process

This is mine and my friends process of doing physics homework. We have quite a unique process of doing physics homework, it isn't the most productive but it gets the job done. It starts off with us playing a little bit of call of duty. We then continue to go eat usually at Cafe Rio. After we finish eating, we open our books and start doing a few problems. We get a few done and then usually get distracted and then have to refocus. Half way through we usually give up and continue to play call of duty.

Since I last summarized the book he has finished introducing the book. What i found odd however is that he states right at the end of introducing the book is that the book is a failure. He has now started to tell the life story of Billy. I have a feeling that he is Billy. He goes crazy and starts talking about aliens from other planets that describe to him how time works. He says he became unstuck in time and he was able to do that with the help of the aliens. He is now describing to his daughter what the war was like and how he started to become unstuck in time.

  There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep

This video of Herbert asking for your votes come election day doesnt really say anything about what he plans on doing. He says jobs were on a rise so we can assume he's gonna work on that or he did that already? Not exactly sure. Then he talks about school for our children for a second so I guess he plans making schools better. He never says what he is or wants to do if he is voted in as Governor.

Dish Network vs. Comcast

In Reading Unspun an example they brought up was "If it's scary be wary". In searching for something that fit this example I found this Comcast commercial. In the commercial it is playing dramatic and sad opera music. It shows people with Dish network having problems and no being able to watch T.V.. Then at the end of the commercial it sums it all up by saying the people want cable back and if you buy a dish you will not be happy and want cable back. They are definitely trying to scare you away from dish through the entire commercial. I found this clip on youtube.
