Diagonal Composition Assignment

Discussion by: y2011linpur on Mon, 2008-11-17 08:51 with 1 comments

I photographed these field hockey sticks in our locker room. I thought that the two sticks looked cool but it was very difficult to find an interesting angle. I ended up laying on the ground and I think that this is a successful angle. I think that this is my strongest photo for this diagonal assignment because the diagonals in the floor and the lockers lead the eye to the field hockey sticks.

I chose to post this image because I love the mixing of the elements and the feeling created by the abandoned building. I feel that the presence of the tree adds to the feeling that the building is neglected and nature is beginning to take over. I also feel that the mixing of the tin and wood shows even more how neglected the building is.

This picture has good contrast with blacks, whites, and grays in between. Although the contrast is good the value is flat and very gray which can be improved upon. The composition of this photo also contributes to the photo because it leads your eye through it. I feel that this picture could be improved in the angle it was taken from.

This picture has good composition with the subject in one third and puts the emphasis on the subject. I also feel that the contrast is good from the subject’s leggings to the sky and her jacket. I think that the value of this photo is very gray and flat. I think that this may have been better from a different angle more in front of the subject.

In order to capture this photo I used the tip of using different perspectives. I was lying on the ground in order to capture this. I feel that the mood portrayed in this is calm while still being fun. The subject seems happy like she is exhausted after having fun. I also much prefer this picture in black and white because the colors of the scenery detract from the subject.

Unusual Perspective

I feel that the perspective in this gives the photo an inspiring feeling. Looking up the trunk of a tree is a somewhat common photo, but I feel the way the leaves are incorporated and the two branches almost intertwine makes this photo more original.
