What's the significance?

Discussion by: Adiamond on Tue, 2012-05-08 16:19 with 1 comments

Every day there is a significant event. It is hard to dissect the days of the past couple of years and figure out which one has really stuck with me, as if I was in the moment. The Japan Earthquake and Tsunami is simply memorable and significant. The fact that Japan sits on the junction of four plates is a miracle that the tiny island has gone so long without an earthquake of a magnitude of 9.0. 15,703 people died and nearly 5,000 disappeared in the fires and tsunami, the highest number of casualties Japan has seen since World War II.

The End of a New Beginning

17 16 15 14..Yes there are only 14 days left of Judge Memorial Catholic High School for the class of 2012. It is strange to think that the building process of getting to know teachers, classmates, and ourselves is going to have to start all over again. This year has been quite unique, every one is deciding where there whole future lies with one decision, taking that next step to accept the acceptance to a particular college for the fall semester of 2012. We are no longer the class of 2012, for we are the class of 2016.

What's the Latest Fashion?

Discussion by: Adiamond on Fri, 2012-04-27 10:51 with 0 comments

The fashion today is a little out of hand...What happened to the simple neutrals..Browns, Beige, Black, and white?
The idea of wearing colored polka dot pants that are flared and a pin stripped collared shirt is not my go to stroll in the park outfit.
So what is considered matching anymore? Is mismatching the new matching? Is opposite patterns considered complimentary? Are neon colors considered the new neutrals? Are heels the new flats? Long skirts the new pencils skirts?
So what should we wear...sweats?

The Unexpected Unkown of Utah

Often i hear the words "what should we do" "There is nothing to do" "Utah is so boring." People have not realized that there is so much to do in Utah, they are simply just not looking hard enough. Art is an element in our lives that has not neccisarily been a huge focus but is having a great growth spert in the eyes of the United States citizens liking. Utah happens to be one of the many states who is trying to bring art to the attention of the population in Salt Lake.

March Madness determines the national champion of college basketball. But It is not only a basketball game, for it is a game played by the viewers of this sport. The brackets of March Maddness is an important and very well studied subject by many in the united states. Individuals get together with their determining brackets for the overall game, the person with the most winning matches then receives money from the other individuals that are playing against each other in that specific group.

Blind Nation?

Every day there is complaining of having to go to school, what individuals have for lunch, not being able to go to a concert, having to clean some part of your house, not having the latest fashion, the list goes on about what we don't have. I know for a fact that i am a victim in this. I am so consumed about what i am needing to do all the time and trying to balance my life between sports, studies and my social life that i simply over whelm my life. Food in water is just a simple element in my life, my family always has left overs and the sad part is that most of them get thrown out.

Abstinence?

The Final Rush by Zachary LeMon a Youth Voices pool photographer on Flickr.

"Abstinence should be the single mantra when it comes to sex ed." This statement claimed by the conservatives is a huge issue in Utah. I do not agree to this statement one bit. "young people face a barrage of confusing messages. Along with titillating images from the media, some kids are told to “just say no” to sex. In school, others are taught how to put condoms on bananas in preparation for the real thing, and still other children receive no information whatsoever."

Music...an element in our decade that is on so many different levels its unbelievable. Our lives are centered around our electronic devices that hold some of our most precious items. For many that is our I-Tunes playlists. Music has been with my life ever since i was in Kindergarten, It all started with the white and black keys along a piano, an instrument that was within a daily routine of mine for eight years. I then turned to theater school and sans, more like tried to sing, old classics such as Footloose and Bye Bye Birdie.
