In chapter 12 of " Down These Mean Streets" Piri starts to use cocaine. While waiting for his new girlfriend Trina to come downstairs,Piri's friends peer pressure him into taking the drug. He tried to pass saying he was high enough already but they called him a punk. This made him feel less of a man which made him do it.
