I have always been very found of the Korean music industry and a lot of my favorite artists are/were signed with SM Entertainment. I just wanted to do some further research on how SM was started and who is or used to be signed under their label. I really love SM Entertainment because they give opportunities to all Asians around the world. They have held auditions annually since 1996 globally in search of youth talent. A hand full of young stars from the U.S. & Canada with Asian backgrounds were chosen too. For example, Tiffany & Jessica from Girl's Generation were hand picked from California. There's also Henry from Super Junior M who was chosen from the Toronto auditions in 2006. SM not only offers it to Koreans, but also to Chinese and Japanese aspiring superstars as well. Kangta is a duo composed of a Korean singer Kangta and a Taiwanese singer Vanness Wu. There is also the Chinese singer, Zhang Liyin who has been with SM Entertainment since her debut in 2006.
Listening to music in different languages to interpret some of the culture of a certain region has become a hobby of mine. I get yelled at for spending too much time watching overseas shows and music videos. Many people say that music is their life but to me music is another language that the world needs to learn to stay connected. Music accompanied by dance becomes the ultimate communication skill because even if the person can not understand what you are saying your expressions or your dancing style give them an idea of you as a person.
My playlist mainly Korean but not all of it, I also listen to Hindi, Bengali, English and Chinese music. It doesn't matter the language as long as the music is good and it makes you feel good it's considered good music.
This is a video of a 13 member South Korean group called Super Junior. As the name suggests they are very popular in Korea and they have taken the country by storm. This song is off their 3rd album. The most popular song from that album is Sorry Sorry. This song is more heartfelt and sad. The guy is saying that no matter how much time it takes and even if you have someone else for me it's just you. The music just pulled me in the first time I heard it, the dancing is also really good. The interpretation of the music was amazing. The drama sets are very cool because they're all walking in and out of an alley and into a house on a porch near a mailbox. It gives you the vibe of the song and how lost the person is without the significant other. Naming all of them is a huge challenge in itself I'll try my best and please comment if I make a mistake or miss someone.
Heres goes: Eunhyuk, Ryeowook, Kyhyun, Kanging, Shindong, Kim-Ki, Yesung, Leetuk, Sungmin, Heechul, Siwon, Donghae and Hankyung. Whew! and No I didn't use the internet to copy and paste -_-
Hope you enjoy it! If you have any questions please comment.
