I love this website, and a small handful of people do too. As a new comer to the website, I began pouring economic and social beliefs into this society as a purpose to make a change. Although this change will not be big, it will mean something to the young and fresh minds reading this on their phones and laptops. I always have been convinced by my teacher's actions that it was basically a site to post assignments and projects. And as far as I am disappointed, this site is nothing but that.
If you go to a public school and eat school lunch, you know what I'm talking about. The weird hard thing on your tray that looks like poison. I'm talking about UFOs: Unidentified Food Objects.
School lunch has not been the best aspect of school life. We have all complained that school lunch is discusting. Although the school cooks work very hard on the meals they provide, which is a lot of meals depending on school population, I'm sorry but it isn't filling my stomach.
You missed the problem on the test because you added wrong, bubbled the wrong answer on the answer sheet, misread the question, didn't answer in the right units, didn't... You've been there. We all have. The key to minimizing stupid mistakes is to develop the right habits when taking tests.
“We are all of us richer than we think we are; but we are taught to borrow and to beg, and brought up to make more use of what is another’s than of our own” (Montaigne, 1580-88). In today’s society it is very common to find students who plagiarize in order to succeed on their big assignments. Almost everyone has plagiarized at some point in their life. People use other people’s ideas instead of their own and get credit for it. This is not fair to the original creator or the person plagiarizing because they are gaining nothing from the situation.
A lot of people think that high school starts too early. There's a lot of scientific research that is backing that up too, but nothing is changing. Things like busing and the scheduling of sports and classes seem to keep change from happening.
My senior project is about the support Newcomer students (Students new to the country that do not speak English) receive at Fremont High School so I focused on a group of Newcomer teachers. After my focus group I felt relieved and happy because I think I got enough information that is going to help me with my senior project. Through the process, I encountered a lot of challenges, and I thought I was not going to be able to make it, but I worked really hard and finally I got a good product. One of the things I did wrong was distributing the invitation letter to the teachers at last minute.
Hello everyone, my name is Angelica Rodriguez. Today I will be talking about my my working thesis for my senior project and how I have been doing so far on my research. My thesis is parents’ and teachers lack of communication with their students can affect students academic success causing children to lose motivation for their education. Having programs that mentor parents’ and teachers on how to interact with their students and in essence will use those skills in their classrooms and homes.
All Oakland students should not receive the same education. Receiving the exact same education will not be good for some students because some learn better a different way than others, while some are already ahead. I disagree that all Oakland students should receive the exact same education.
I think some issues you should address as you begins your time in Oakland is to create more lights around the school because a lot of pedestrians have accidents for the reason of not having enough lights and there is a lot of cars . Also, could you try to hire more police to secure our community here at the school?
Well some problems I believe Mr. Wilson should address or take care of are the under-funded schools such as Fremont High School, McClymonds High, and Castlemont. Another challenge that I personally believe will be extremely difficult, is to decrease the amount of students that do drugs while they are in school. These are some of the main problems that I noticed while at my time at Fremont. Even though I faced these issues at Fremont, my time there was a fantastic one.
Many people often talk about bully, teaching, lecturing, etc. But, after listening do these things; listening of the affects of bullying, such as suicide, social media, and such. But... do students really care about bullying? Do they think about it? Do people really reflect on what they do, and think or regret of what they did?
Where do I begin? So, I was absent all week because I was really sick and my child was recovering. I had plenty of time to think about my project and how to become unstuck. My focus remains the same, and like in my previous blog, I will expand my interview group to as many parents as I can reach out to. I believe that will encourage my study because I will be seeing the contrast between how many parents actually make the effort to attend meetings and put in time into activities such as my project.
I haven't done much work on my research paper since last week which is a huge setback to future editing of my paper. I still have to sit down with my teacher and discuss what ways i could write down a thesis that will satisfy even the most pressuring of judges.
My senior research topic is about Inequity of Resources in Oakland Public Schools and the effects on Advance students. In which I am focusing on ways can schools help these students to be more successful academically and feel more connected to school overall? My current thesis yet so far is " With fair school funding in Oakland District in public schools will help advance students to achieve a great success on getting ready on College".
In Heather Wolpert's essay Equation of Success: Top Ten Responsibilities that Students Must Own, http://www.edutopia.org/blog/student-responsibility-academic-success-hea..., the author outlines the relationship and co-dependency of the factors that contribute to the successful education of a child. Wolpert also outlines a list of student responsibilities that seem logical for success, but can be difficult, for any student to follow.
This year has been my best and favorite year of high school so far. Honestly, I do not know why students in my school always complain and want to leave the school. Green Dot New York Charter School is a great school that makes sure to push every student to do their best. I think that if I did not come to GDNY I would not be doing as good as I am doing now. This year I have excelled tremendously as a student. I have ended the school year with a GPA of about 94. Every marking period I have had an average of 92-96.
Student failure is a major factor in which the United States government is extremely concerned about. This topic is extremely controversial acknowledging it is constantly debated whether it’s the schools or the students’ we should be trying to fix. According to the many articles I have read, the government is spending too money on schools, information, utensils, and much more when all that students need is some discipline. This topic extremely interested me because of the fact that i’m a major nerd. A’s are my passion and everything I have worked for.
The school bell. An item of seemingly no significance can strike fear and anxiety into the heart of a student. The boringness of hours of class would be amplified by the fact that a huge pile of homework would be the consequence of attending such classes. Homework is one of the main reasons why students dread school and everything about it today.
In Daniel Beekman’s article, “Bronx teenagers build nest boxes for migratory tree swallows, get nature lesson from feathered friends,” from the New York Daily News, the author explains how students are beginning to create homes for these winged animals.
I choose this topic because there have been a couple of students I've met in the past that are very smart, but just can't pass a test score because of not understanding how people write the test and makes it confusing. I believe a test should not define if a student is capable of being superior. Not every student is good a test but can be good on hands on material if they understand the concept. I am one of them who understand the material but sometimes I find testing difficult because the way they explain the question.
I feel that students should not be able to listen to music during class time. Students taking a major exam tend to use many different study methods to help them. These methods can vary, but the outcome will either be success or failure.
It has been proven that a student's study habits affect the outcome of their success from a test. I strongly feel that students should never be allowed to listen to music during an exam. I feel that this studying technique should not even be considered for approval. Listening to music makes people sing and dance
Homework has been an issue over the years, students complaining about how much homework they have to do. I think it is not necessary, many people, specially teachers, disagree because they say it's a review of what students learned at school. There are many ways to avoid homework instead of reviewing at hoe classes should be five minutes longer, so students would have time to review at the beginning of class.
My argument is yes students should have uniforms because people get inscure and jealous of others if you wear uniforms. But, my opponent would have probably said" We should not have school uniforms because it's annoying to wear the same thing everyday for 8-9 hours on weekdays.
