Are test scores a good judge of a student's competency?

I choose this topic because there have been a couple of students I've met in the past that are very smart, but just can't pass a test score because of not understanding how people write the test and makes it confusing. I believe a test should not define if a student is capable of being superior. Not every student is good a test but can be good on hands on material if they understand the concept. I am one of them who understand the material but sometimes I find testing difficult because the way they explain the question.

The article “A Good Intelligence Test” by David Z. Hambrick is an argument for the support of the Scholastic Aptitude Test. Hambrick states that the SAT really does work in predicting success in college. He goes on to say that the SAT really is not perfect, but in most cases it works pretty well.

A requirement to applying to most colleges, junior and senior students have to take either the ACT or SAT exam. This standardized test helps colleges get a better assessment on the students knowledge and can help the accepting or denying decision process. Unfortunatly, there will always be kids that find a way to cheat the system. Most recently, a group student in Long Island are suspected of doing just that. This has lead to a reevaluation of the security that students have to go through to take the tests.

I knew they were coming. I have been through them for three and a half years now. So why did I, yet again, wait until the very last minute to study for them. I am talking about Semester 1 Final Exams at my school. As I said, my fellow seniors and I have been taking finals at our school since we were freshmen, but it seems that procrastination has made the best of me once again. I always do the same thing, that is, wait until the night before a test to study. I don't understand why I do this because it just puts more stress on me as a student.

The first Semester of the school year has arrived. Right now i am looking around me and all i see are kids in study groups frantically trying to cram some last minute studying in. I think it is a little overtop how much finals are worth. A whopping 20% of your grade for the Semester all lies on one big test. I think that it is time for a change in the system. This is because that some kids are so paranoid about getting a good grade that they stay up till 1 or 2 in the morning studying when they need to be getting rest.

There were some positive and negative memories I had in my first year in BSGE.  A positive memory I had was when I went to Lounge Night.  It was an awesome night with people dancing and loud music.  There was a lot of good music, and the band was good and it was an awesome night with my friends.  A second positive memory I had was when Ms. Nikkolos treated my elective class all donuts and drinks at Dunkin Donuts.
