In front of the Magic Forest it says "Closed for the Season". But when two boys ride up to it on their bikes, Author tells his new friend, Logan, that the old amusement park hasn't been open for years. The park in the sunlight is pretty scary, imagine it in the middle of the night. Author is sure that they can find clues to the mystery of who killed Myrtle Donaldson. And what happened to the money she handled as a head bookkeeper at the Magic Forest? The two boys begin their quest. They paid many visits before, but their last time would be in the middle of the night.
"It was the first time I ever trespassed, and I coudn't halp thinking I'd just taken a step into a new - and dangerous - life." -Page 45.
I remembered this quote the most because it seemed SO dramatic. While I reading through this paragraph of the book, I was just so bored the whole time. I was consistantly thinking: "This is kid is so weird to think about that and is overly dramatic". Only in movies they say things like, "step into a new and dangerous life". It's like he's a criminal or something! Anyways, I tohught this quote was awkward and should be more realistic.
China went from being the world's most dynamic and rapidly growing economic power pre-war, to being one of the nations most severely damaged by the infected. After the War, the United States government fled to Honolulu, Hawaii, and the West Coast of the United States became home to most of the nation's remaining human population. I served as a launching pad for the national reclamation effort. The United States also had a higher percentage of isolated pockets of survivors than any other country.
The infamous term “serial killer” is defined as a person committing two or more murders on separate occasions, often over an extended period of time. Her eyes widen and she clutches her neck, fingering the shredded tissue with disbelief. This can’t be happening, I think. Not to her. She’s a survivor.
When I awoke, I couldn't help but feel that something was wrong. I felt a sharp pain in my head as i got up off the cold, hard floor and I couldn't remember where I was or how I got there. When my eyes finally adjusted to the darkness i saw a light flickering in the distance, urging me to come closer. As I walked down what appeared to be a hallway I started to notice the sloshing of some kind of liquid on the ground. As i bent down to investigate I immediately knew what it was. The red color and metallic smell left me no other explanation.

I ran. My feet moved faster and faster. I didn't know where I was going, what direction I was heading. I didn't dare glance behind me but I knew that it was getting closer, closer. It's hot, sticky breath hit the back of my neck in waves, causing me to shiver with fear and disgust. The trees of the forest whisked past me, disorienting my every sense of direction and time.
