For my research, I have chosen to write about the benefits of tough love parenting. I found this interesting because, throughout my life, I have noticed that there are different ways parents take care of their children. For example, I have seen many parents give in to their child’s demands, just to stop hearing them scream or cry. Others are extremely strict and control everything about their children. Other parents set rules for their children, but they also show affection without letting their children get away with breaking a rule.
After hours of relentless research and my own personal experience, I have solved my lingering question of is tough love an effective parenting style. I believe that tough love is a "plan b" style of parenting. By that I mean tough love only comes into play once your other parenting styles do not work. I also have found that tough love is used for defiant, rebellious children to help the parents set boundaries and strict rules as they work to regain control and confidence.
