For lack of better entertainment, my friends and I were watching MTV's True Life: My Boyfriend is Addicted to Facebook. This show exposed the lives of two couples dealing with the obsession that is internet and social networking in general. It really got me thinking, that is until it reminded me to pick up my phone and start texting, that this problem really is evident. We are constantly connected. It could be argued that this is a positive or negative effect on our community. In fact, I just took a break writing this post to reply to a text. It is great that we know where each other are and the safety I have when my phone is on me is incredible; however, does it diminish our relationships with other people? Do we say things we wouldn't say if it weren't through technology? And is this hurting or helping our dialect? Recently, I have been trying to keep my phone in my bag or leave it in my car while I go shopping or do errands.
