It's the single largest sporting event in the history of the World. Enough said. But for those who don't normally watch soccer, I would have to encourage you to tune in June 11th. It is a completely different experience from any other sporting event because it involves the entire world. Even if you know nothing about the actual game, the atmosphere surrounding this event is unparalleled. Over two billion worldwide tuned in to the final match four years ago. The new stadiums that the South African government has built will hold over 100,000. That many people watching one game creates enormous glory for the team that hoists the trophy at the end of it all. Besides the glory, there is the nationalist emotions that go into this event. The players are playing for their country on the biggest stage which creates more drama and excitement than you can even imagine. Other sports that we typically watch are leagues that only other Americans are following, the rest of the world could care less. This is the one event that unites us all and turns our attention to the same thing. Nothing else on the entire planet has that kind of power.
