FreeCreditReport.com advertises a free credit check. Little beknown to many who go online and sign up, there are fees. Technically the fees--about $15--are not charged from FreeCreditReport.com, but they are charged by a company working in conjunction with them. These fees are for "credit monitoring"--a totally different process than just checking your credit. On the commercials, it is stated in small print, and very fast speech, that the company is working with another, but it does not say "You will be charged." The word "Free" is what stands out, and that's what lures people in.
