This photo is my example of using line and light. The object, being a latter, is obviously a good use of lines. However, the unusual view of it makes the object that more interesting. This view was chosen in order to enhance the lines. Lines are also communicated through this photo because of the shadow that the latter creates. This shadow also expresses the use of light in the photo.
This photo demonstrates shape and light. The leaves are all a unique shape each with their own personal characteristics. The sunlight also plays a strong part in this photo. The sunlight shines from the top right corner casting shadows on leaves in the bottom left corner. The leaves that are the subject also clearly stand out against the dark and undefined background.
The water fountain in this photo demonstrates shape. The fuzziness of the lines give the picture more of a relaxed feel. Since the faucet is the only interesting thing going on in the picture, your eyes are drawn to it immediately. The reflected light also gives it character
This photo shows line and texture. One of my personal favorite elements of design is texture. So many things are defined by their texture including these bricks. The bricks clearly show texture and make the smooth material of the bike stand out. Another prominent element of design are the lines of the bricks. The lines show in the bricks in the foreground and in the bricks of the other wall.
I think that this image is a great example of how to show lines in a composition. This is one of my favorite pictures because the lines from the railing, railing supports, and stairs, create lines that cause your eyes to be drawn to a vanishing point.
The element of design represented in this photo is light. Though the entire photograph is not in the sunlight, where the sunlight does hit stands out and makes the photo more interesting. The shadows cast by the head stones and the slanted head stone create a unique look. I took this photo from an angle where the sun would cast shadows that made the picture stand out.
The elements of design in this photograph would be shape and lines. The shape and form of this photograph is interesting because it is all coming from one spot and is some what circular yet has very unique curves. The other thing about its form is how it appears some-what thick.
Perspective is very strong in this picture. Because the picture was taken by looking forward into a glass bottle with a long neck, the rounded shape of the bottle gives the picture very interesting perspective, as well as framing the pulltabs inside. This is also a good example of texture.
This picture shows a similar perspective to that of the next one, but shows immense lines as well. The bench’s perspective was obtained by placing the camera on the bench flatly. The bench seems to come out from under the camera. Lines from the openings in between the slats draw your eye to the back of the picture, making this photograph an interesting line composition.
