The Grapes of Wrath
1-20
In the cornfields of Oklahoma dust fills the air. Farmers cover their faces with handkerchiefs and the kids stay inside instead of playing outside. Families try to block the cracks in the doors and window sills but the dust is so thin it still manages to creep in, accumulating throughout the house. However they are not solemn or downtrodden because the women know everything will be okay as long as the men stay “whole.”
