I thought that somthing that was very interesting in Chapter 2 of Unspun was the concept of scaring people into buying a certain product. I've seen so many commercials on TV where they show before and after pictures of people who've used whatever product it is that's being marketed. The advertisers try to scare people out of becoming the "before" person, because initially, fear is a stronger motivator than a good end result. I thought it was interesting that adverstisers have realized that element of human thought, and how they've used that to sell something.
