I had to read this book for English class and expected it to be yet another boring, torturous book. Surprisingly; I really enjoyed it and at times read more than what was assigned.
Nectar in a Sieve follows a young Indian woman named Rukmani, a young woman from a privileged family who marries beneath her at the age of twelve to a poor tenant farmer named Nathan.

1. Sold by Patricia by McCormick is a about a thirteen year old girl, Lakshmi who is from the rural areas of Nepal. Her father has passed away when she was small, now she has a step father. Though he step dad may not be very helpful to the family, Lakshmi's mom says they must be grateful for even having a man in the house. Her dad doesn't even make enough to buy the family a new house, but still gambles the money away. There is no choice but to send Lakshmi to the city and become a maid.
