I need a school where we can be respected as a family. Knowing that adults put their hands on students and get away with it is not ok. I feel like the Vice Principal should be fired and not allowed in the OUSD district. We go to school where we are being trained to be adults, they treat us like we are 10. How can we “grow up” (like they say) if we keep getting treated like kids.
Officer Gliniewicz from the Fox Lake Police Department has soiled the mind of others. He has cheated, scammed and slithered his way through life. He stole money from a youth program’s funding at the police department. Somehow, throughout all of this, he still managed to be perceived as a loving police officer. The horrific acts of Officer Gliniewicz’s in Fox Lake has destroyed the community's sense of trust.
Language is a body of words and the systems for their use common to a people who are of the same community or nation, the same geographical area,or the same cultural tradition. It is a communication by voice in the distinctively human manner, using arbitrary sounds in convention always with conventional meanings. A part of language used word/s and it is important. Word is a single distinct meaningful element of speech or writing, used with others (or sometimes alone) to form a sentence and typically shown with a space on either side when written or printed.
In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the two main characters are Huck and Jim. Huck is a young boy who’s around thirteen years old and feels the need to venture out and do his own thing. Jim is an African American slave who heard his master, Miss Watson, talking about selling him and instantly decided to run away to potentially find his family.
In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain explains follows the journeys of two people with very different backgrounds. One is the escaped slave Jim, who is trying to run away from slavery in order to live life on his own terms, and the other is Huckleberry Finn, a 13-14 year old white male who tries to run away from the foster parents who will undoubtedly try to ‘sivilize’ him, which he simply cannot stand. The issues that Huck and Jim are trying to run away from are at the same time similar, but also different.
The story of Huckleberry Finn is a story of the journey from oppression to freedom. This can be seen with comparison and contrasting of the characters of Huck and Jim. The two are comparable in the fact that both of their oppressors are personifications of different aspects society. Huck's Pap, for example, could be considered the personification of ignorance and prejudice. Pap is ignorant of the fact that he is an awful father to Huck, and prejudiced that his white skin color makes him superior to those of others races, ethnicities, and color.
In “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn”, the two main characters Jim and Huck build a strong, though somewhat odd relationship, which happened because they both ran away. One can compare and contrast them based on their reasons for fleeing, and find that they are more connected than meets the eye.
I took a photo of my good friend JD. I used a window with natural light coming in. This illuminated his face and mirrored his face on the window. Also, I was shooting in the wrong mode which actually allowed for a great background. It made JD stand out more.
This is both a personal and national issue, that raises obvious issues regarding people, rights, life, equality and family. It has remained one of, if not the most polarizing political issue since 1973. According to religioustolerance.org, there are two key questions regarding abortion: whether the decision is ethical for a woman in a specific situation, and whether the state may “...veto her decision” (religioustolerance.org).
You’re not strapped down somewhere.
You’re not being whipped across the back.
You could walk to the corner store freely.
Darling, you’re free.
You’re free to run wild, and listen to the birds sing in the park.
You’re free to shout out Hallelujah, and Amen!
You’re free to eat, sleep, and excrete.
You’re free to spend money on this, and that.
You have freedom of speech.
You have the right to explain your side of a story.
You have right to reopen a crime scene care, no questions asked.
I am 13 year old Junilka Diaz, and I love to dance! Dancing is my passion and it means the world to me. I also love music because, just like dancing, it is my escape. The leaves were nice colors of orange, yellow and even some red and looked beautiful on September 22, 2000, the same day I was born. I lived in New Orleans for a couple of years when I was younger and much of family used to live there and many still do. It’s actually interesting because my grandma and many other family members experienced the horrible Katrina storm down in Louisiana.
Hey ladies and gents! My name name is Alex and I am extremely loud and very open, but I can be really shy. I am creative and always thinking of new ways to solve a problem. I like to step up and take command as a leader, but I am also teaching myself to step down when necessary. I'm always thinking about my future and ways I can better myself as a person. My top goals in life are to be able to help others in need, become an example, and do something that can change the world in a positive way. I’m playful, yet I know when to get serious.
I just finished reading Who Was Martin Luther King Jr. by Bonnie Bader.

Junk Food is food that is mostly made out of ingredients that are sugary and fatty. It is food mostly consumed by teenagers. Junk food helps satisfy students hunger even though it’s unhealthy. Junk food can cause many health problems. My opinion is it is people’s right to eat whatever they want.
Last Friday my classmates and I attended to Berkeley's movie theater to watch "Fruitvale Station". The movie was heart touching, especially to my classmates and I since we live in the "hood" just like the main character. The movie showed a perspective of any color person. Oscar was trying to start his life again and start fresh that way he won't have to be separated once again from his daughter. That was highly realistic because people usually end up in the bad crowd because they have to do anything in order to survive.
The topic that I have chosen for my research is parental tough love. This topic interests me because I always wanted to know why some parents are extremely strict and have harsh rules that their children must follow. A few things that I already know about this topic is that one major reason for parents being tough on their kids is because they want their children to be mature, and wise when they get older and have to live on their own. Before I started my research, I was curious to know why must there sometimes be curfews, and why we usually get no freedom.
In the Book of Exodus, there are a few important characters. There is Moses, the LORD, Aaron, the Pharaoh, the Egyptians, and the Israelites. Moses was put in a basket and placed in the river as a baby by his mother, in an effort to save him. He later made contact with the LORD, and soon began to follow the orders of the LORD. The LORD guided Moses in the struggle against the Egyptians while trying to gain freedom for his fellow Israelites. Aaron was Moses’ brother, and helped him with all the orders that he had to follow to free the Hebrews.
The first section of The Lost Boy by Dave Pelzer might leave a reader feeling miserable because the main character Dave was abused by his beloved mother. Their family used to be really happy and cheerful, but then his mother suddenly changed. She became mean and always take her anger on Dave, but not the other two sons. An example of this is on page 11. " How many times have you told me about The Boy? The Boy this. The Boy that. The Boy, The Boy, The Boy. " This is mean and terrible because in the family, Dave is a nobody. His mom and dad call him The Boy instead of his name, Dave.
The images of my postcard are based on 3 chapters from the book Down These Mean Streets. They are Chapter 28 named Sex in the Can, Chapter 29 named No more Mananas for Us, Trina, and also chapter 30, Sweating, Man, Sweating.
In slturner71’s essay, "Why Is Suicide Wrong,"from http://suicideproject.org, the author is trying to convince and to tell the people who are reading this to reconsider suicide, because she understands that suicide is not an option. It is somthing that is very dangerous and cannot be treated.
In the Declaration of Independence, and according to Martin Luther King Jr it says that “All men are created equal.” This means that all men and women are equal and that everyone has equal rights and equal and should be treated with equal respect. With abortion, being a controversial issue, are “all men” really created equal? Men should not tell women what to do with their bodies. Abortion should be pro-choice, legal and women should be able to choose whether they want to have an abortion or not.
