These issues and events, to me, are some of the most important of this century. You may notice that 9/11 is conspicuously absent from the list - but I figure that it’s pretty well accepted that 9/11 is among the important events of recent years, so I thought I would address others. It’s a sort of compliment to your intelligence, really, that I don’t feel I need to hit you over the head with the really obvious ones. But, I’m rambling - let’s get back on track, shall we?
In Frank Buni's opinion piece, "Colorado's Marijuana Muddle", from the New York Times, the author talks about how marijuana will be used and controlled in Colorado. The author believes that marijuana usage in Colorado will boost the economy and that pot will eventually be sold in everyday restaurants.
In Barbara Shoff's "Ron Paul Legalize Marijuana Bill: 8 Reasons Why it Makes Sense", from PolicyMic, the author highlights eight different arguments that support the legalization of marijuana.
Barbara Shoff uses logos to support her claim in paragraph 4 when she says 56% of the public is in favor of legalizing and regulating marijuana. She states this to prove that a majority of the population is in favor of legalizing marijuana and it is therefore logical to support legalizing it.

Let me start off this piece by saying in order for people to agree or disagree on a topic, they must primarily be educated in the matter. This piece will be very cliche, but I feel very strongly about it. I am not going to use finger facts to prove my argument, because if you are not educated on this matter, I'd like to help you out, and show you the in depth research that proves my argument as valid. It seems that if people do not understand something or are unwilling to accept it, they attack it.
In an article I found, t contains a point that I’ve always thought about but never actually found an article that discussed it regarding the recent legalization of marijuana in Colorado and Washington and the possible legalization's of it in seven other states.
Experts on marijuana I feel, can be slightly trickier to find. So far, the only people I have thought of to contact regarding information on my topic, are those who wrote the articles I got facts from. But even then, lots of the articles don't name their authors or lead me to somewhere I can find out who they are. One author, who goes by the name of Kristen Gwynnn wrote for the San Diego Free Press about the positive effects of marijuana legalization. I know I could contact her but there is no proof of her being a legitimate "expert" of the topic.
Most interesting facts I learned through site operators!:
.gov: The Obama Administration is against any form of legalization of any drug. This is really interesting because I thought he was and legalization seems to be a pretty democratic thing. They also state some “facts” which contradict a lot of other stuff I’ve read about the good and bad effects of it.

When we consider the issue of weed, some might wonder: Will it stop. Megan Fox's news item addresses the question because he said that the rate of people who smoked has been the same for a long time.
Teenagers suffering depression do not report their symptoms and seek help as much as they should. In a study that used subjects in the United States that range from ages 12 to 17. The study showed that 8.5 percent of all adolescents experienced what is considered a major depressive episode, which lasted more than two weeks. But something interesting about this study is that there was a major difference between genders. There was 12.7 percent of females and only 4.6 percent of males who reported the depressed conditions.
What one may find as they research the subject of marijuana is that some people who are generally “pro-pot” claim that it is just as dangerous as or maybe less dangerous as alcohol. From an article written in 1952 about a famous icon Marti Robertson, she says “It's just like being a lush [drunk] only you don't have a hangover and you're not sloppy and getting sick and maybe going out and driving a car and killing someone like a lush. And it's cheaper than Scotch.” She continues to say, “Those dope stories—all about how you go around killing old ladies when you smoke a pot. It's a real drag.
The plant marijuana, or “cannabis sativa” is said to have originated from China as it’s earliest dates in scripture go back to 2700 BC in Chinese manuscript. It has long been a drug used for endless things, from menstrual cramps to chronic pain; it could almost be a lifesaver to some. And to others, it is a lifesaver for others if they use it the more commonly known was, as a mental getaway. It can be digested through a number of ways: smoked, chewed, or brewed into multiple concoctions.
Recently, the Colorado and Washington state governments have legalized the recreational use of marijuana to adults over the age of 21. The most pending issue is the fact that federally, marijuana is still illegal. An article posted on the CNN internet page quoted Colorado Governor Hickenlooper saying "The voters have spoken and we have to respect their will. This is a complicated process, but we intend to follow through.
After the election Washington and Colorado were the first two states to legalize marijuana for recreational use. This was decided after it was shown through the polls that more two- thirds of the voters were for marijuana legalization or decriminalization. As someone who supports the legalization of Marijuana, something more should have been done rather than just legalize it at a state level. What this means is that even though the use of marijuana is claimed to be legal, it’s only at a state level and at the federal level it’s still illegal.
On Tuesday the 6th of November, Marijuana became legal for recreational use in Washington State. As of now, Colorado and Washington are the only two states that allow the purchase of recreational marijuana. I am curious to see how many more states will allow marijuana to be legal for recreational use.
Marijuana is not addictive, it can be used as a reasource both industrially and medically, and if taxed can help our economy greatly. I do not understand how something like alcohol which is dangerous and doesn't do anything for us can be legal and Marijuana is not. Now I'm not saying that we should get rid of alcohol, I'm saying that we have something like that legal we should definitly legalize marijuana.
The most important thing I learned about schizophrenia so far, or at least the one that applies most to me, is that drugs such as marijuana can trigger the onset of schizophrenia. I myself do not use marijuana, but I am aware of many people around me that do. It is scary to think that these people that I know could later end up coming down with schizophrenia. I think most people simply do not realize the risk that runs with smoking weed. Although it is a low risk, it is not one that I would take a chance with.
I have recently been doing research on the effects of cannabis. I want to make it clear that in this research paper I will be stating a lot of opinions from a cannabis user. All the quotes and some facts will be from a Wikipedia article on the long term effects of cannabis use I will also be backing up the Wikipedia article with other Web sites for proof.
Recently scientists from University of Alabama at Birmingham and University of California at San Francisco have ran tests on 5,000 white and black men who smoke marijuana or tobacco over a twenty year period. The results were quite fascinating.
Legalization of marijuana is the topic of which I’d like to talk about. I have heard that marijuana is used for cancer patients to ease pain and make you hungry. Recently there has been a discussion on weather marijuana should be legal in the state of California. At this time California has 215 cards which is used to grow your own plants and sell to dispensaries but these 215 cards have been abused and used for sales to underage children for there use. Marijuana has a chemical in it called THC which is what give you the high and makes you hungry.
Most people who didn't grow up under a rock or were raised as a member of the FLDS knows what alcohol can do to you, whether it be the night after partying until 3 a.m.
Marijuana has often been referred to as the "gateway drug", but many people refute this comment, stating that marijuana has no adverse affects, and is completely harmless. Accordi
Michael Phelps is best known for setting Olympic history with 8 gold medals in Bejing. However, his most recent headline was of a different sort. The 23 year old was caught smoking marijuana at a party on November 6 and the pictures of him holding a bong were blasted across the tabloids. Fans, coaches, and member of the Olympic committee alike are disappointed in the swimmers
This summer we all fell in love with Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps who won a record setting 8 gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Phelps brought the sport of swimming into the spotlight and became an American hero that children all over America look up to.
