When I read the vignette “Lucky to be with Habib” in Sold, I felt heartbroken for Lakshmi. I think what makes this sad is that Lakshmi is a 13 years old girl who lives with her family in a small hut in the mountains of Nepal. Her family is definitely poor, and also her life was full of dreams for her family and her future. She was in a household doing a lot of work at home like raising the goat and taking care of her baby brother. Quickly, her stepfather says she must leave home and take a job to support her family.
The thematic connection from the book Native Son to the video that we saw I notice that the white police officers wanted to killed the person of color with not trial. I think that the three different sons were treated unfairly because the cops did not give any warning why they were there. The police officers came up to them and they killed the sons every one say they were killed because of there race. The worst thing of that the justice system failed to punish the police officers that killed the sons.
In this new developing world, technology is becoming more and more prominent in our everyday lives. Including, now in schools. schools all over the US are adopting e-books in an effort to make learning easier for students. This, in many ways is good because there can be easy of access of materials but it does have its drawbacks. Many people do not enjoy e-books because it can be confusing and there is not much flexibility with highlighting and folding papers. It also does not provide the real experience with reading book and studying.
About two weeks ago, I wrote about my opinion of celebrities being treated unfairly for crime. After doing further research and reading articles, I have found a great example. In November 2013, Judge Robert Mandelbaum convicted a woman named Genevieve Sabourin of stalking and harassing, "...loving the Bloviator a tad too obsessively..." (paragraph 2) Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria. Mandelbaum sentenced her to seven months in jail, with an extra 30 days for contempt after she whined in court.
I recently did some research on a video that brought attention to the Ray Rice elevator scandal. I am intentionally calling this a scandal because the media is acting like there are two teams in this investigation. It is now being trivialized to whether or not you are rooting for or against Rice. There is clear evidence that he knocked his wife out yet female fans are crooning things on the internet claiming that "he is such a nice guy." This infuriates me that it is even an argument if Rice is a bad person or not.
Job-hunting in the economy today is a long, stressful process for most job applicants. 52% of disabled people between the ages of sixteen and sixty-four are “economically inactive”, 23% of the general population, according to the Office of National Statistics. This meaning that you are more than twice as likely not to have a job if you have a disability. This is even more painstaking for those with disabilities. I have attached an essay of mine that I have focused completely on this issue and what I think we can/should do about it.
The holocaust was a massive problem, Adolf Hitler created to vanish jews, homosexuals, Gypsies, and metal. The Nazi party was all ruled by Hitler, he wanted a Nation of one race. It all occurred during world war 2. The final solution of the jewish question was to kill all of them, the holocaust was to get rid of them.
My topic is about Strokes and how each person gets a different treatment due to their economic status. Unlike the ones who have health insurance or can afford to attend to a private hospital, there are those who cannot afford and receive the same medical treatment. Statistic show that only 10% of victims recover completely and those who often recover from a stroke are the ones who have Health insurance and receive therapy everyday. Strokes are the third deadly disease in the U.S.
An issue that the next President of the United States should address is racism. A lot of young people cause most of the racism and become prejudice. Teens can be very immature and very vindictive. We can be very rude and criticize other people's clothes or their religion.
