There are many topics that YV students across the country are researching and writing about, and we want to have more ways to connect about these.
Below is a document where students can add their names to topics they are exploring and and then connect with others doing the same.
Another great way to connect is through tags. Make sure your students are tagging, and then they can use this tag cloud to see others' posts. (Also see the bottom of this post for a list of tagging suggestions.)
Talking about 21st century skills is big topic among progressive educators. The idea that the school is a community isn't a new concept, but it now starting to be seen as essential to learning, especially for high needs students. This conversation made me think about how are students are already accessing information. Why don't we teach them how to use their phones as a tool for change? While at the same time teaching them that technology can also be a distraction from learning.
i thought the presentation was very helpful. I thought that it is a great resource to give students access to classroom materials without needing them to be in the classroom. I think the use of technology will promote the students' reading skills and annotating skills. i think it will also increase peer to peer interactions specially with students who are shy or don't like to share things or discuss things out loud.
First of all ,my name is Yelitza. My old school use to be 219. I chose NDSS because it could change my whole life. Because it has the services that I need. This affected me in a good way because now I get more help from the teacher, the principal ,and the staff .The classes are smaller so the teachers get a chance to make sure that we all are on task. The counselor are really cool, friendly, they help us out. Everyone in this school help us make us feel like at home. This school has a nice vibe but the most thing that I like is that this school is very determined.
So far this year while working on my senior project i been really taking my time on thinking about coming up with questions to ask athletes, clinic nursers, and a teacher at my school. I started around mid late February because this was an challenge i had to deal with by catching up after my basketball season ended knowing that i had deadline requirements due in march.
Recently, I did a Hangout with Paul. It goes for 58 minutes, but I found a few places in our interview that show some of the different things I do in my work with Sensato http://www.sensatosworld.com/ and on my own site http://lomapesao.com/
I used Popcorn Maker to skip to four different sections of our conversation. (So even though it says that this is 58 minutes long, it's really only about half that long.) Let me know what you think.
